Question about Kyleberry's 8-bit, No OoB (Current WR)

I'm sure others have pointed this out, but I'm confused by a couple moments in this run. It appears that at 25:34 () and 33:28 () there appears to be splicing. Moving through, frame-by-frame, the timer stays the same, while the game cuts ahead a significant amount.

I'm by no means an experienced speedrunner, but it seems like the footage has been spliced. I know it's been verified, but can someone explain what's going on?

That's a piece of tech discovered where the player can destroy an enemy at the same time a new one would spawn in. As a result the new enemy also gets destroyed and the player grabs onto that enemy instead of the one they initially destroyed, essentially warping them forward. I'm assuming this post was made with the best of intentions, but maybe inquire about the tech in future without mention of splicing. Especially if as you claim yourself, you're not an experienced runner.

I've edited the message title and as Strizer mentioned, this is speed tech in game. I encourage you to join our discord using the link to the left and ask questions there before assuming a splice has occurred (especially when this teleport tech is used a lot in many current runs).

Locking the thread.

Thank you.
