Question about modding

So I've noticed some game series that have multiple games tend to have mods that run everything, but then they also tend to have Game specific mods, why don't we do that? I mean as an example I've read forum posts from Hobz saying he doesn't really know much about BBS at all, but I know for a fact he knows stuff about 1.5. I just wanted to ask if we'd ever have something like game specific mods. since some people know more about some games then others.

I agree, it would (i assume) make current mods not stress as much since there isnt a good ratio to games and like you said not all mods play other games but i dout it will happen imo

All of the mods work very closely together when discussing anything regarding the leaderboards. And there are mods who "specialize" in some games over others. Hence it's why someone like Hobz stays out of nitty gritty BBS discussion since he's more knowledgeable on 1.5 whereas someone like KHfan might contribute more in BBS stuff. In reality, we do have game specific mods.

For example Hobz, Saiyanz and Rebel know a lot about KH1. Sonic, KHfan and Silver know a lot about BBS. Saiyanz and Drazerk know a lot about the handhelds (Days, Re:Coded, etc). Biz, Sonic, and KHfan know a lot about KH2. Toji is there because he's Toji and he started the LBs.

As you can see, each of the games in the series tend to have about 2-3 mods who know a lot about that game (and a lot of mods have general knowledge on all of the games).

Point being, even though we don't necessarily have mods who are limited to ONLY certain games, we have a good mixture of mods who know about all the different games in the series so that if a question arises about a specific game, the mods who are knowledgeable about it can take the forefront of the discussion/question. Plus, the mods alone don't do anything without community discussion. So if a really important topic comes up, all runners who aren't mods are encouraged to join in so that the most voices from the runners of the game are heard.

As much as I agree with the whole "every game should have their own set of mods". There is also the problem of the "dead games" then not getting mods. Since stuff like CoM barely get ran who would take the helm for that? Draz could do it but he's also been inactive for well over 6 months now. Also as much as we don't admit it. We are a lazy community. Not a whole lot of runners really want to do the active duty of being a leaderboard mod. They just want to submit their times and that's it. I would say their should be more of a discussion on who else should be on the current leaderboard mod team because since May we've lost about 2-3 more mods that were quite active.

Also to add to Timmi's point there is also the case that most mods don't do a whole lot until there is community discussion. If someone brings up a point against the current state of the LBs then they more than likely bring it up in their Mod Group chat and discuss it. If we have separated boards and there wants to be change, would we still have that same community discussion as before?

It's a good idea which I've agreed with on multiple occasions but at the same time, it's also a very idea due to how many games we have in this series that would need its own set of mods and rules.

Just some food for your thoughts.

This Certainly helps me and my thoughts, I suppose there would be some games that it might be dead for so that makes sense. I Just thought I'd bring it up in the forums and have it discussed in here at the very least since I haven't seen anything like it in the forums.

Just to add one last thing to this: outside of discussions about routing, rules, categories, etc., it doesn't take much to be a mod. I don't have to know a lot about Re:coded to verify a run for it, for example. I just have to know where the timing begins and ends and look for any obvious problems. So any mod can (and does) verify any run, which is 90% of what we do.
