The rules dont mention anything about Golden Guns on or off in Story Mode and those definitely make a difference The current WR uses so should we maybe specify whether they are allowed/banned for future runs?

I suppose it could be left up to a vote. On one side, the guns are easy to get (especially with a guide) and having them is the faster method. On the other side, it can be seen exclusively as NG+ content and thus unfair. Since the game allows you to easily toggle the Golden Gun effects off, I would say that this could easily go either way. Of course, establishing that rule would mean that just about every run on the board so far would be invalid.

However, NYM Hardcore is already a NG+ category so golden guns will always be allowed in that instance.

So let's vote:

A - Allow Golden Guns in Story Mode runs

B- Ban use of Golden Gun effects for Story Mode runs

A

If the game was more competitive, I might lean towards B.

Golden guns only give you a 15% damage bonus iirc, so I don't think it would be too much of a difference.

A Sounds like a plan, they are p easy to get, and its not like 10% more damage and bigger clips breaks the game

Massachusetts, USA

I think everyone should start with the same materials and golden guns don't really save time so if you want them just turn the effects off... personally I don't want to have to grind through the game to be competitive... I think the barrier for entry should be as low as possible to encourage more runs...

For now, Golden Guns will be allowed. Here's why:

  1. A lot of the (higher difficulty) categories require at least one playthrough of the game to unlock corresponding difficulties. Assuming one has played through the game once, they have access to Chapter Select. By having access to Chapter Select, that person would have easy access to collecting the guns they are missing.

  2. I am not going to make restrictive rules on other people because one person (or maybe a handful) don't want to take the time to play through levels to collect guns. Typically, speedrunning a game is going to require more than one play through by nature anyway.

  3. All of the existing runs use golden guns.

The burden is higher to collect the guns than to take them off... I don't need them I won't get them but whatever I don't think it helps with speed...

Hello everyone. Following the recent UI changes within speedrun.com, it is now possible to host the Arcade Modes on the main Max Payne 3 leaderboard, as it is now possible to set the difficulty filters for individual categories (they used to just apply to all categories), so this means the Arcade Mo
