Mega Speed

There is a way to speed up the game. I'll give you my method.

On the RomStation website (Link: https://www.romstation.fr/ ), you can play GTA Advance in emulation.

To do this, you must go to the link above. Upon entering the site, there will be a green button at the top of the screen. You must click the green button to install the software. It will allow you to play games belonging to the site.

You accept the terms and you install.

Once the installation is complete, you will be redirected to the home page.

Go to the search bar of the site (top right of the screen) and write "Grand Theft Auto", then start the search.

You will arrive on a page containing several games of the GTA series. You will have to go to the bottom of the page, Grand Theft Auto Advance will be the last result. You click on it.

You will be directed to the game page. Just at the top of the game's image, there will be a small green button. Click on it to install Grand Theft Auto Advance.

Install (and wait)

Once the installation is complete, you can finally start the game. But one last thing will have to be done.

The game will ask you to choose the types of emulator you want to use. There are two (NO$GBA and VisualBoyAdvance Link). I recommend using the second choice (VisualBoyAdvance Link) because I find that the commands are simpler than the others.

Once you have selected the emulator, the game starts. (You will have the choice to be able to diffuse on live broadcasts on the site, it is your choice)

Here are the controls of the game Z: Confirm / Hit / Shoot / Accelerate X: Back A: Enter / Exit the vehicle ENTER: Menu break LEFT ARROW: Move left / Turn left RIGHT ARROW: Move to the right / Turn right UP ARROW: Move up DOWN ARROW: Move down SPACE: Mega Speed

I recommend you play some minutes/hours to get used to the controls.

TL;DR use any GBA emulator and any GTA Advance ROM and use the speed-up feature?

TL;DR What's this ?

I don’t think speeding up the game is allowed.

We could accept ? It's a feature of the emulator.

Usually emulator-only features are banned in speedruns.

You have the right to be against my suggestion. It's true that it would be unfair for the runners who are on the Game Boy.

I had suggested that, because none of that was mentioned in the rules.

But an arrangement is always possible ?

What do moderators of the game think about this ?

I propose allowing memory manipulation, too, as long as it is an emulator feature.

Idea: We could be inspired by the IL leaderboard of Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories. There is a chart for the original runs and a chart for the runs on the emulator. Everyone wins. :D

Tell me where you'd draw the line. Emu would allow this via memory manipulation:

I have not yet found how to have the memory manipulation on the emulator that I presented above (and the one I use)

So, the Mega Speed. I have nothing against it, but you seem to have a feeling of hostility toward this feature (as usual), even though the purpose of this threads was to present a trick and not a hack. But without banning the emulator, because it's one of the only way to play gta advance on a computer (and basically emulators are allowed).

The memory manipulation is unnecessary supplement, a bad hack in other words. And is in no way associated with basic emulators.

First of all speedup options are available on most if not all emulators and I don't know why you posted a long section describing how to pirate the game with a particular emulator-station (?) which is basically 2 popular GBA emulators in one package.

Yes, to play GTAA on PC using an emulator is the only way, but you can play it in somewhat accurate emulation to how the game would perform on an actual hardware (depending on the emulator you use) without the need of a Mega Speed mode. The framerate is daunting at first but you get used to it over time.

Also LCS has different leaderboards for ILs and 100% because of the loading times, which debatable whether can or can not be considered a feature/trick/hack.

If there is enough of this emu only feature speedrunners than the category might be accepted, but even then probably on the "memeboards", because essentially this Mega Speed mode is modifying how the game works. And realistically I don't think a "Mega Speed" feature would help as the input times would get all messed up and controlling the game would probably be worse, but thats just a guess, because I haven't played the game on a speedup mode.

You suggest to me to propose this in the memeboards ? For use the Mega Speed in the "hack" (if you call this) that I've describe, you must maintain "Space". Without this, the Mega Speed don't be. So, if I made a speedrun with the same emulator, without using the Mega Speed, he will be accepted.

Yes, I think it could be added to memeboards, because runs of tool assisted or modified/hacked games aren't usually added to main leaderboards. But first, to make such a category, there has to be atleast one run of it.

You can use the emulator for regular runs as long as you don't use the Mega Speed or other types of hacks/cheats. If you look at Chinatown Wars or Liberty City Stories, there are a lot of runs that use the emulator.

Seems good.
