Changing Category Names

Alright, so I brought this up in the mod group and the opinions varied, but I think we should change category names from the XX Shines to a more descriptive name. I suggested some, but most of my suggestion were bad or long.

Any% 79 Shines - All Level Shines 96 Shines - All Physical Shines or All Shines, No Blues 120 Shines Any% Hoverless 50 Shines - Any% No GBS/EYG 58 Shines - All Episodes 20 Shines

Obviously, some of these names are bad, so if there are names you think are better, you should definitely say that. This thread is mostly meant to get community opinion on whether or not they should be changed, so yeah, go nuts. FrankerZ Also; If you have any other suggestions for the leaderboards categories that are non-name related, feel free to mention that here as well.

This is actually a good idea, it'll prevent the inevitable 'what's 79 shines' question every time that category is ran

I totally agree with Milks post here, we need new names.

79 Shines - What a meme 96 Shines - Blue Coin Phobia Any% Hoverless - What's hoverless? 50 Shines - No Good Skips 58 Shines - Casual Let's Player

(these are meant to be as a joke, no offense towards anyone)

Hoverless Max% has been done?

No, I was saying I knew it had. It's also been done by Pyroshade. And I wouldn't make such a claim without running it ;3

I dunno. I'm not exactly a known member of your community so I don't expect for you to take my opinion seriously, but I kinda like having numbers to almost quantify categories. I think numbers allows there to be clear distinction. Of course, this is from someone who doesn't run sunshine but it's just my opinion.

Where's the petition to change Any% to 44 shines?

The point of removing the numbers is to describe the categories and avoid unnecessary confusion. Any% is and will always be Any%.

Any% = beat the game, no restrictions

this is a common point for every speedgame period.

I think the category names are fine. Better than SM64 imo. At least this game has a category actually labeled Any%.

how is 120 star beat the game no restrictions (any%)?

speedrunner123, that's 0 star, lol

120 is collect all the stars, no restrictions (^:

Well if we're following the % pattern, 79 could be 65.83% and 96 could be 80%. Now for some actual suggestions, 96 could be Max% No Blues or Max% No Tanukis and I like All Level Shines for 79.

Any%, all level shines and 120 are good names imo. I think that 96 is very difficult to come up with a name for since saying "120 but no blues" doesn't work and neither does "all shine sprites" since that would be easily confused with 120. All physical shines makes sense but I think it'd get just as many questions from people asking what "physical shines" are.

I like the idea of changing the category names but only if we have a good name for both 79 and 96, since having any%, all level shines, 96 shines and 120 wouldn't be good imo. Though I also think that 79 and 96 shouldn't be main categories so their names don't matter much.

Also, max% no blues or racoonmen for 96 doesn't make sense because to me, that includes the technical percent of unlocking nozzles, as well as collecting every possible yellow coin in each area. Max% is a tough name to use since we don't really do everything possible in 96 or max% hoverless.

I actually really like this idea. The way that the categories go by number of Shines definitely confused me at first.

for 96, what about "Max Shines, No Blues" ?
