The other day i was playing through smb in Mesen, when this happened: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LpoC5F467co Is this an actual glitch, or was mesen acting up? I was on the falling platform jumped onto the 3 blocks and back onto the platform and back on the blocks. As far as i know Mario doesn't walk that slow in normal gameplay...

are you playing on pal? that might be the reason

I think what happened was you were walking towards the left, and started to hold both left and right at the same time (L+R). I used to play on emulator and I'd experience this same thing.

Canada

Basically on emulator L+R in specific locations tend to bug mario. you should use a better emulator since not ALL of them experience this kind of bug. maybe retroarch if it's still a thing.

Ye I noticed this happening sometimes when I was doing 1-1 ffpg and this is how you do it: Hold B, the direction opposite you're facing, and A. At around the apex of your jump you release the direction you're holding and then a few frames after you release A + B and when you land on the ground this should work. I'm not sure if you need to hold B, but I've never done it without so it's either required or I'm just bad lol. If my tutorial doesn't help then I've uploaded this YouTube video w/ input display
