My speedrun getting rejected

Hi guys, this is actually my first post here and I would like your input about this and sugestions how to proceed:

I have made a timed attemp at Resident Evil 7 (I'll paste the link at the end if you want to check out the vid) in the category 100% New Game Easy. Now it was rejected twice by one of the RE 7 moderators, someone I actually follow on twitch speedrunning stuff. The reason for the rejection the first time was : This is not a speedrun, it's a guide"

Since I dind't find any way to at least clarify with him what he meant by that, because my intent was not as a "guide" when I recorded it, I resubmited the run and in the description I wrote "This is not a guide, this is my attempt at the best time I could do. There are other runs with more time in madhouse in other categories (not 100%)

This run is completly within the rules established and no rules refer to what is and what is not "a guide" and as such be discarded."

The answer the 2nd time was simply " its not a speedrun"

Now I don't claim it's a good speedrun like the ones he makes, but I claim it is my speedrun nonetheless in that particular category. I even asked some friends about it, for example if theres some sort of a time limit of what you ca do, and they said they never heard of it.

What am I missing here? What can be done?

The video

Looks to be a legitimate run. I didn't listen to the audio of the video as I am currently at work, but even if the run has full commentary that is "guide" like, it would STILL be a speedrun if you met all the rule requirements.

Curious to see what others say.

I would ask him in what way is it a guide, there are no explanations or anything, just music, ask through a social media outlet rather than submitting it again

Timer going (even if you can't see it) + end goal = speedrun. It could be 20 hours and it would still be a speedrun.

This should not be rejected at all. RE7 only uses IGT and you showed that at the end plus you showed you met the 100% requirements so you have every right to submit this as a run.

Sounds like a case of a stuck up mod(s) who rejected it for some personal reason or the terrible reason of "the run wasn't fast enough for the LBs" (which is crap since OOT has like 18 hour Any% times). I'd definitely try reaching out to the mods on social media like suggested up above and if they continue to be unhelpful, bring it up to the site Full Mods/Admins.

Thank you for the input. I've sent him a message through Twich for that purpose.

does he have anything else you can message him on? twitch usually isnt too reliable in that regard

The run shouldn't have been rejected for being a "guide", but it should have been rejected due to audio issues. I'm not sure what mod you're referring to, but I doubt it's a personal vendetta. They should be reminded that times, regardless if they're slow or not, should not matter when it comes to submissions if it's within our guidelines. Your example isn't, but if you submit a run again within that time period that follows the rest of the games rules, I will personally make sure your run is verified :)

Who rejected this, specifically?

Arguments about how 'fast' a run needs to be before it's considered a legitimate speedrun should be avoided as much as possible, since then the mods are enforcing an arbitrary limit on the leaderboards.

Carci, I hope this wasn't you mate.

It was not Carci. I will be having a discussion with the mod that rejected it for being too long, however the run still should have been rejected due to the game audio not being present.

@Drakodan lol what

@thread idk who rejected for being too slow (frankly i don't care) but this shitty trend of people blasting music over their runs needs to fucking STOP. I don't care how fast it is. Game audio and mic only.

Yes, please. I don't care who the runner is, if your VOD has any portion removed due to copyright because you're blasting music, I'm rejecting it. Game audio is important for a RE game in the verification process (not so much with 7, but still, please stop blasting the music)

Valhalla

why exactly is it important? just curious, are there audible cues or something in the games?

Yes, for some there are. I will also reject runs with game audio muted in older RE games for example, as well. Because then it makes splicing together runs that much easier (think the door load animations). It's not as much a worry with 7 since you don't have the door loads. But I want to be able to hear the game audio just in case. I'm fine with music playing over a stream, but if I can't hear the game I'm probably going to walk away and let another mod decide. If your submission is muted in any segment due to copyright, or the game audio is completely inaudible for any other reason, then I'll just reject. Part of it is habit from the older RE game verification process, but I still think it's important personally.

Thank you very much for the replys! Now I feel finally I have an answer to what the issue is: the audio. The reason we decided to atach music and remove the original sound was because for most of the run me and my partner were stressing out in portuguese, at times trying to figure out if we left any item for the 100% run behind. But I do have the original video so I'm going to upload that and resubmit.

I havent refered by nickname the mod because I don't want to make any issue out of this, even if I dind't get the actual reason as to why it was rejected from him.

England

@Carcinogen I wasn't trying to imply that I THOUGHT it was you, but that I had every faith that you would not have been responsible for this and would make sure the issue was addressed, maybe worded that a bit badly.

Valhalla

I didn't even think about the splicing. Thank you for the enlightenment
