An Issue that requires admin intervention

Hello,

Long story short, in the past few days, the Mortal Kombat Series moderators made some ruleset changes for some of the MK games (MK1, MK2, MK3, UMK3, and Trilogy) and i believe those changes doesn't really fit to the 100% solution of the problem by seeing the amount of divided opinions and controversies. Some of the moderators have suspicions on submitted runs and just decided to reject them with no real proof of cheating, but only based on this new ruleset that also implicated into some of the records being removed/rejected after those rules were applied. It would be nice to have an administrator to address this situation.

You can see in details here: https://www.speedrun.com/mk/thread/ba9a7

Thanks for your attention!

If the goal is to make it harder for cheaters to get through then it seems like it IS a solution. Applying tougher rules for only the very top runners will affect those that are serious about meeting the requirements anyways.

No real proof? The reality is some games can be cheated well enough to where "100% proof" of cheating would never be possible. What's the solution at that point? Requiring a file for emulator runs and requiring the run to be done live seems reasonable to me. Can't speak on whatever file it is that they want, but even streaming your run live can't prove full legitimacy, but it's a good step towards building trust.

Rejected only after the rules were applied? Might seem unfair to those that submitted before the rules change, but I think it's the right decision. Example would be if a moderator forgot to include a detail like disallowing save states (MK1 Rules don't mention save states) then couldn't someone submit a segmented/TAS run and pass it off as RTA? It's not against the rules. In that situation you would place a reminder in the rules not to do that and reject the run. As for formerly accepted runs that don't meet the new rules requirement, it's really up to the discretion of the moderators what runs should stay or go. Really to out right remove a run because of a rule change seems pretty unfair, which is why adjusting the rules before accepting or rejecting runs just makes more sense.

Also your mention of holding a poll on the MK forum is a bad idea. Not only is manipulating a poll extremely easy, but sometimes moderators have to make decisions not everyone agrees with for the sake of the board.

I don't see this new ruleset being beneficial for anyone but the moderators, since it scares out even honest runners and already made many of them to quit using the leaderboards, i'm not saying it's unfair, i'm just saying it's too much of a changer, most people don't have conditions to livestream but still want to compete. Also, if some records were removed after the rules were applied, then all runs should be removed aswell, because none of them meet 100% the requirement of legitimacy based on new rules, some of them were made live, but still don't have the INP file required as the rule itself states: "In order to qualify for a top time, you MUST be running on Wolfmame & an inp recording must be submitted". Anyway, i still hope for at least a Full Moderator to take a look at this situation.

Thanks for your feedback @Komrade !
