Trying to decide which game to run first..

So a year ago I tried to practice Ocarina of Time Any%, Torje inspired. And I was doing alright, I was super happy when I got a few glitches off like in the first dungeon making that Deku Nut into a Bottle was awesome. But then I stopped sadly. But now I want to get back into speedrunning.

I have been watching quite a bit on youtube, and now Mario 64 0 Star looks real fun too, albeit difficult. But OoT has hard glitches all over the place it seems like, I havent even made it to the Wrong Warp yet.

It would be awesome to run something and shoot for the top rankings, and these two games/categories seem most appealing thus far. Any advice or personal opinions would be great, thank you.

(As for the title, I guess I should say which game I should run first competitively)

Just started up Mario 64 and looking left and right is just horrid and backwards, I can't set my buttons or change this in the settings it looks like >.<

Project64, Xbox One controller (LOST MY GAMECUBE)

So I will see if I can get use to the invertedness, or wait till I use a gamecube I assume.

Also the popularity on the Mario 0 Star run concerns me, I want to have a good amount of community, which also helps with finding more videos of guides. I see a bunch of 16/70 star guides but none for 0 star.

It really depends what you like to run. Both games are way different from each other!

I personally like M64 because of the 'smooth' gameplay, jumping around, kicking some wall. I feel like flying through the levels. While OOT any% is more precise movements and pulling of perfect glitches. And I get great feeling of accomplishment when doing it right.

It's true 0 star isn't as popular as 16/70 stars perhaps you could look at the 16 stars? Try both and pick whatever you like more ^^ Both has big and great communities (Perhaps join both Discord servers?)

Give anything a try that you want to (and have the means to), If you're having fun, keep going, and if not, move on to the next game :)
