Ellos, im getting into pokemon red any% glitchless speedruns and im just trying to learn all the manips required atm. I can consistently pull off the Nidoran manip as it is in this video: but i have a lotta trouble figuring out how to extend it to do the pidgey + forrest manip. Im trying to figure out how this works out https://pastebin.com/ApTUFBQ3 . I understand that your movement and A presses has to be diffrent depending on how the npc's move. But cant find heads or tails in it. I watch gunnermaniac and he does a slightly diffrent nido manip. Can anyone elaborate on what the r, R, u->U means and all that, highly appreciated. Cheers

ok so first of all don't worry about gunners nido manip, it doesnt impact the extended manip and will work the same if a direction is lowercase (r, u, etc), it means that a specific npc is turning in that direction, where if the letter is uppercase, it means that an npc is actually moving a tile in that direction. so if a path says u->L for the first npc, that means that if first turns up and then moves a tile left one of the hardest parts of extended manip though is being able to clear the textboxes after the nidoran catch frameperfectly; if you don't do that, the npcs won't move in a way that makes sense inputs that you can use to clear those textboxes frameperfectly can be found in this video: after you can get that down, you would need to pay attention to the way the two npcs (first is below you as you walk back to viridian, second is next to the hidden tree potion right before leaving viridian) and from those movements choose a path that will give you a pidgey that can be yoloballed another doc that might help with that: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gYT_XIWPZxEtbjHVlGU4eu6RODZBucO055E3f95bOyg/edit unfortunately, my knowledge about extending past pidgey is pretty slim, so maybe someone else can help with that :)

Extended pidgey is a really advance technique and really only need it for top times. I would suggest forgetting it for now and just focus on learning the route and improving segment times (past surge) to get better times. Once you want to get like sub 150 then you really need to start doing extended pigey but even then getting sub 150 without extended pidgey is very doable.

Also what headbob said is right if you want more info on how to do it. Also the reason gunner nido manip is diff is becuz that was the original one but they made the movement slightly easier a little down the road (both are exactly the same results tho so you can do either one).
