"No OoB"-Section?

Would it be possible to add an "No OoB"-Section to the Speedrun Categories of this game? In my opinion it would be pretty useful since the OoB parts of LiS are pretty glitchy and can potentially ruin your whole run... Im just saying, because a run of this whole game takes a long time. On the other hand if you say it's unnecessary because this isn't a famous game for speedrunning I can see where you are coming from. In the end the mods decide but I just wanted to throw that in ^^

I wanted a glitchless category too or at least a glitchless variable, i dont like runs with oobs.

This exact same topic was already discussed. I feel that since there's only two instances of oob that are useful right now, even if they do subtract a couple of minutes, the lack of popularity of the game in general further means that subdividing the game further may be detrimental. Also the length of the run should not have a factor on whether or not to create different categories. You have the chance to skip around 4 minutes, with the chance of clipping in wrong and getting stuck losing around ~2, so you have to weigh that risk/reward.

There's only currently two(?) skips in the run. They save barely any time considering the run length. Maybe if more skips are found, but not while the game has the current amount of skips it has.

Other games with glitchless categories have the same people running both extremely often, it has nothing to do with people's ability or desire to do them. The reason for gltichless categories is in games with a large number of glitches (not 2) to allow force more of the game to actually be completed. You can skip maybe 2% of this game, and the route leading up to and after the skips are identical. One deciding they don't want to use glitches is their own decision. It's equally unfair that all consoles are on the same boards because of load times, but there are so few times already that splitting up the categories would not make since without the game becoming far more popular. However since console is already listed as a variable, representing inherent disadvantages, I would not be opposed to OOB being tracked as a variable, and this may be a good compromise.

Just to throw my opinion in: Since I run LiS on PC without a controller I already have a great disadvantage + even after countless times of trial and error I can't get the OoB parts right so that's also a disadvantage. For me to get a sub 6h run is nearly impossible, so creating a OoB category/variable would be really useful. "Other games with glitchless categories have the same people running both extremely often" so what? Thats not really a good point since it wouldn't be much of a problem if the same people would run it extremely often. (And btw I dont think that would happen, because one run of LiS takes a long time) "There's only currently two(?) skips in the run" Yes, there are only 2 skips, but they are extremely hard to perform (at least for me) and they safe about 5 minutes wich sounds like nothing compared to a 6 hour run but for me its really means much because I already have it way harder. "The chances for them doing the glitches are 0% 'cuz simple reason "they don't like doing glitches on their speedrun" so no risk/reward applied for them." that and I'm to bad to perform them :D. "the lack of popularity of the game in general further means that subdividing the game further may be detrimental." hm ok I can see where you are coming from but I'm disagreeing with you saying that theres a lack of popularity ^^ It's not famous for being a speedrun game but it is famous for being an awesome game. "Also the length of the run should not have a factor on whether or not to create different categories." that was not my main argument. I just said that if you fuck up a skip you can start all over and since this is a really long game you can only do this like once. Just to clear things up: I know, because this game isnt popular for being speedrunt I can understand why you dont want to create a category but I thik OoB being tracked as a variable is the way to go.

Maybe if we had more OoBs and skips than we do now. If they're that big of a deal, don't do them. 5 minutes is nothing in a 6 hour run, and you'll lose more if you fail them.

I play on PS4 because I do not have access to a pc capable of even running the game, let alone stream it. As such I do not have the ability to perform any glitches. Eventually, once I get a better pc i will definitely be challenging the glitched time but that may be years from now. As it stands i've set a personal goal of sub 5:30:00 for myself (which I should get on my next run). It would be nice to have glitched and glitchless separated as categories. The guide I wrote is for all systems glitchless. And I just found a 37 second time save over my previous route (already updated in the guide). Makes me think I need to comb through the entire game and time out each scene but I work 40+ hours a week and live with a roommate who's officially been sick of me playing Life is Strange since the first week I had it. Oh yeah, how can I post pictures of my notes so ya'll can see what I play off of when I'm running?
