Route Question

I figured this would be a good spot to ask questions as well. I wanted to throw this out to 6oliath, EagleLiver, Susan or anybody who knows about KOA in general.

I am wondering if there are places to find rare or unique weapons just like Kellerac's sword. I tried looking up daggers and a lot of information was not clear, or many said you can find things as random drops from chests or enemies, which cannot be relied on for a speed run.

The other question is mostly in relation to the dagger route, if we could craft or simply purchase better daggers instead of crafting the Fine Azurite ones?

We want the best stats/results, and we only use 3 daggers overall in the route.. though I am wondering for that early to mid-game range if there is a better option anybody is aware of at all?

Thanks! :)

I actually just found a pair of purple daggers that you could consistently come across in the route. Shine and Shadow.

When running through Ettinmere I noticed the runs getting the Holnstead waypoint for extra experience. If you take the short detour into the camp and talk to the gnome he gives you a quest. On the way out of Dellach the final room where you use reckoning mode there are normally two ettins. With this quest there is a third one that drops the daggers, and potentially more fate essence.

Going to post this again in the run suggestion forum thing too

Shine and Shadow have a base damage of 43-71 (depends on character's level) while Fine Azurite Daggers that we craft have 55 damage. We need to check what damage do Shine and Shadow have when we get them in Dellach and how much of a detour getting that quest is.

I just tried, and it was 35 damage. I was level 7 I think. Edit: tried it on a run, they were 43 damage. I guess I was level 8.

As they are a quest item, you can't sell them until you persuade the quest giver to let you keep them (~80% chance.)

If you get EDP earlier though with some minor optimization, you could justify a S&S. Especially in our route where we go to Dellach fairly late.

If you're interested in maybe buying a cheaper weapon from a merchant, to replace the EDP dagger route you could check out Rathir, Whitestone, and Odi's Camp. Merchants there sell mid-late-game weapons. None are too far off the beaten path.

If you're looking for good ideas for a completely new route, there are some wiki pages on unique items. They are full of flawed information but it's a good starting point.
