No emulator?

So I'm interested in trying to run this game but I didn't see anything about using an emulator. I have a Cube, the game, 1019-block memory card, and a CRT tv, but I don't have anyway to record gameplay, which is where an emulator would come in handy since it's easier to record on computer than cube.

So are emulators used at all? And if not, what's the best way to for me to record gameplay from the cube?

I'd run this game if emulator was allowed.

Emulator is technically allowed currently, but we don't show emulator times by default on the leaderboards. Honestly, it would probably just be best to outright ban it, but the last time we voted (Which was like sometime in 2014 I think), quite a few people said no. A lot of those people don't even run the game anymore, and haven't for a long time, so it might be worth it to vote again.

The thing with emulator is, the game saves/loads from the memory card multiple times throughout a run, and emulator has instant save/load times. The times can vary too, so we can't just have emulator runners add a certain amount to their final time.

Regarding recording though, can you not just buy a cheap capture card? Dazzle DVC-100s are fairly cheap AFAIK, and even the GV-USB2, which is one of the top composite capture cards, is only like $30 - $45. If that's not possible, using a webcam or whatever is fine as far as video proof goes.

EDIT: We did a vote as a community, and pretty much everyone was in favor of banning emulator. So, there you go I guess. :P

Haha okay, well I guess I can use an emulator to practice the run and when I feel confident I'll go out and buy a capture card. Thanks.

"Nvm saw the rules, how retarded."

Emulator has a massive time advantage due to saving/loading the town instantly. No other game would allow emulator in that situation (Which they don't...).

The emulator save/load times vary? They're not instant every time?

Not sure if you are asking us or telling us, CriscoWild.

Pretty much every save and load you do on emulator is instantaneous compared to the console versions. That's why decided to ban emulators and do not plan on unbanning them.
