Category For Different Endings?

For the main game, there are three endings as far as I know. The loop ending, The artist (self portrait) ending, The family ending. Or good and bad ending, or selfish and non-selfish ending. Depends on the person saying it, but there are three anyways.

The most used route in Any% is the normal(loop) ending, and various tricks around the normal ending has been researched/found. However, the alternative endings aren't being used because simply they are "slower" than the normal route.

Those alternative endings are as good as the normal one, and I would like to see how people will find tricks and routes to activate the alt endings. Also, it would help players experience other parts of the game better.

So my suggestion is to: Make a separate category for alt endings (Any%, Artist%, Family%)

What are your opinions?

Usually I'm pretty reluctant to add too many categories to games, because very often it attenuates people's attention and motivation towards the game. I see plenty of games on this site with dozens of different categories and only one or two runs of each, and that is both good for the accustomed runners AND bad for new runners, because they might have trouble knowing where to start. So in the end, the game feels less attractive, and even some regular runners could be discouraged seeing too many categories...

My own opinion though ! But yeah I'm not sure this is something I'd like to see ^^

I actually got this idea from Super Mario 64. Some people didn't like that they are skipping most of the unique experience the devs had to offer, so they have 120 star category. The jumpscares and other artifacts of the game are well placed, even some of them I didn't recognized even in normal playthrough. Since current any% route skips most of the jumpscares, I thought it would be great to have something that we can go through various parts of the game.

Still, my opinion! Thanks for sharing yours!

For me personally I kinda getting tired of running the main game and I think separate endings would spice up the game somewhat. And I agree with Eukk that normal run skips most of the interesting stuff in the game

im generally opposed to adding new categories for this game. unless im mistaken, the other routes are more less the same as any%, just with time spent collecting items and triggering events. in mario 64 it makes sense because there are crazy glitches that you let skip most of the game. layers of fear doesnt have any of that, its just running from the beginning to the end. you said showcasing the jump scares and other stuff are well placed in the game and it would basically cool to showcase. honestly that sounds more like a lets play rather than a speedrun.

if some new tech was discovered then sure it makes sense. but as it stands i dont see any purpose in adding the category other than the clog up the leaderboards.

this is all my opinion of course.

I agree with @lanzaa i don't think there's enough of a difference to warrant a new category.
