Y-Axis Mouse Fix/Sensitivity Fix concern.

Since i've been running games that requires a much higher sensitivity, i've been using a DPI of 600 for both my desktop and games. Of course a DPI like this would be hell to get used to for Vice City, so I used the Y-Axis Fix from the pcgamingwiki, but there's a problem; everytime you start a new game and changes you've made to the mouse sensitivity resets back to normal. I came up with a solution, taking a retail game save and everytime I reset, I load the game and it resets the game and keeps the mouse sensitivity changes.

My question(s) are: • Would this be considered cheating? • Is reloading this game save considered NG+?

Thanks.

so you load the game and then reset? if you load a save from outside of that run during the run then I'm pretty sure that's some form of NG+

When loading up the game file. It reads the load file, shows the "Loading" screen then it sends you to the beginning.

so it's a save that functions as starting a new game. I think that's alright as long as it doesn't screw with anything else like it would in GTA3

I haven't seen any differences. Although, the radio doesn't reset.

Also, what happens in 3?

things like taxi fare duping not working, slightly different timing on the SAM shot, etc., also the radio isn't a big deal

I use that fix, but I set my sensitivity when I switch languages because I don't mind wasting a few seconds (I can easily improve my pb by 5 minutes so a few seconds is nothing), and I find loading a save "not legit". But I don't mind if someone does that.

I don't like any kind of modifications to the game (this also goes for modified radio and loading screens ;)). This one seems especially bad since it uses a save state at a time you shouldn't be able to, which is very abusable.

It sucks that VC's mouse sensitivity settings don't work properly, but I would hope that the work around (other than buying a better mouse) wouldn't involve loading a save file.

I have a good mouse, just don't feel like switching DPI everytime I stop playing/playing something else. But, i'll just switch back to 200 just to be on the safe side.

But you mention that it's abusable, how so?

I was mostly thinking about splicing.

I dont see how loading a save to force a new game rather than just pressing new game would increase the likelihood of splicing.

The radio not being reset could have quite some psychological benefit though. Plus, who knows what else won't be reset? Needs further investigation.

is using the Sensitivity Fix (and lowering the ingame sensitivity during the run) still ok ?

You don't necessarily need a "better" or more expensive mouse. I'm using an old ball mouse for VC, that I bought for 3€, it has low dpi and works fine. If you don't feel like paying much, it's a good option imo. Btw the radio does not restart on PS2 either when you reset.
