N64 PAL Question

Sweden

Hello, i currently have an PAL console of the N64 and i want to try and speedrun OOT, but i need the japanese OOT game to be as fast as possible. Should i get the japanese console aswell? Is there any difference in keeping the PAL console or switching to the japanse console one? The only difference i know is that i have to make a physical edit to the console. So i can put the japanese cartridge into the PAL console. If i was unclear in something please tell me since i would want to speedrun this game :) ( preferably any% as fast as possible ).

I'd suggest you start running with what you have and then invest in better material when your time is sufficiently low.

Just imagine, you invest hundreds in a japanese console and game, and you realize after a week or two that you don't want to run OoT anymore for reasons, despite your current motivation.

It's not really about money and or motivation. I just wonder how i can make a speedrun of OOT as fast as possible, do i really need the japanese console then? or do i only need the japanese OOT game? Since i can simply modify my PAL version to be compatible with the japanese ones. The question is rather; is there any difference on the consoles too or just the games?

Then it's better to ask directly to the game's forums. I'll move the thread

A PAL N64 will not be able to run a Japanese copy of the game. You would have to either get an NTSC N64, or run the PAL version. I recommend getting familiar with the PAL version first if you are still new. 1 thing to note is that PAL version has different setups for certain stuff since roll frames are shorter.

Muted Audio on Twitch Highlights

Recently, many longer runs submitted as Twitch highlights have had parts of their audio muted due to Twitch's automatic copyright detection, the most frequent case being long sections of Lost Woods music.
