is the PAL SNES slower? is it just bad in another way? wich category start with?

United States

The PAL version runs at 50 Hz instead of the NTSC's 60 Hz, so yes it is slower, but it also has different physics than NTSC, which means a lot of the strats we use won't work. I definitely don't recommend using it. If you're just starting out on NTSC, though, start with 11 Exit, without orb or cloud.

PAL 11 exit glitchless is like exactly the same as NTSC so, if you only own or have access to PAL it’s perfectly viable. But I have to agree NTSC is the best way

Incorrect. No matter what category you're running, PAL is different (This is coming from someone who's used both regions a lot)

As TM said, the physics are different, making certain jumps harder etc and in certain situations, the strat used would be completely different. PAL is the slowest version to run on in all situations, and is undoubtedly the hardest too so if it's all you have access too I'd recommend using the NTSC version on an emulator instead of PAL on console. That's how I had to start myself

United States

The reason for the physics shift is, the localisation team for Europe made Mario jump higher and run faster to make up for the 50 Hz restriction. If you watch them side by side it's actually very obvious.
