When & When not to use ditman glitch

the title says it all, i am a long time speedrunner but i only speedrun one game (Orcs Must Die! 2) and im deciding to speedrun a different game from now on, and so far Resident Evil 4 caught my attention, although i already practiced speedrunning RE4 but i am quite not sure about when and when not to use the glitch, i mean i already speed runned the game twice with the help of the ditman glitch but my PB is always between 3:30 hours to 4 hours so pretty sure im using the ditman glitch in a very wrong way. so here is my questions:

1.) do you use the ditman glitch if the area is big? since doing the glitch takes like 10-15 second?

2.) after you rescued ashley do you use ditman glitch? since doing it will leave her behind and you cant progress to the next room until she is near to you.

i mean i could just watch the players, but i need everyones opinion about this.

Thank you for taking time to read this and also Thank you for answering! good day to everyone and may RNGesus be with you on your runs!

hmm i see... i only have a ps4 copy of the game other copies than that i dont, so probably i guess i'll just watched the ps4 ver of re4 runners, thank you very much! much appreciated!

It all depends on how fast you can get in and out of the inventory, and the distance you have to travel, before ditman is lost, cut scenes, being with Ashley etc. Other variables include, how many fps you are running on, and whether it's a pc or console version. Time areas to see whether it's worth it or not.

i play on ps4's Resident Evil 4 the normal ps4 so its 30fps

It's actually 60fps for the Ps4 and Xbox One versions. Only it doesn't quite hit 60, it's like 59.94, so it's really close.

Philippines

wait even the normal ps4 have 60 fps on RE4? not the PsPro? cause i only have the slim not the Pro

England

Yes the normal PS4 version has almost 60fps.

Like Zero said, best bet is to watch the WR for the version you're going to run and that will give you a good idea. A few of us are actually planning to make a full spreadsheet for every room of the game for when to use it or not. So far that has already been done for Steam 60fps and we'll be doing if for every version

Like the others already said above, the faster the loading time is, the more sense it makes to use the ditman glitch since it requires you to open/close the inventory as much as you can. If you want to play the game and eventually endeavor to speedrun the game on a console with faster loading time, then it's gonna be worth a try for you, but if you're planning to play the game in earnest on a console with pretty much sluggish loading time, then it won't make much sense to stick to using the said glitch in every map, unless you're in an exceptionally vast map like where you encounter the Salvador for the first time in chapter 1-1.

Zero I talked with one of the guys on here on youtube about using the ditman glitch on PS2 the other day, and he said for the slow loading time on the PS2 it really didn't come in handy to use the glitch. if it takes only 10~12(or less than that) seconds to go to the other map, I guess it's faster to go without the glitch for the lags that the console is prone to have. :(
