Reloading makes Bowser wake up faster. It saves a few minutes in the run
Also entering a save then exiting to start the new speedrun file saves a ton of loading time for some reason.
The game uses an internal flag in the code to determine whether to use a faster timer or a slower timer, and reloading the save after the Bowser Junior cutscene runs the code that sets the timer a second time, but doesn't reset the flag, so it uses the faster timer. It saves 3 to 6 minutes per cycle.
