Game Rejection: "This does not appear to be notable."

Hi, Earlier today I submitted the game I made. "Taco's Adventure". I got the rejection "This does not appear to be notable." I know it's not the best game but from my games it's the one with the most speedruning potential, since it's an easy to speedrun game, and the small community has already found a lot of glitches and trickes. Can I get an explanation of why my game got rejected? and how can I 'Improve' it to submit it again. Thanks!

Are you talking about this game? https://five-is-a-number.itch.io/taco

Judging by the description of the game and your run of the game (from speedrunning point of view) - While your game is not "very" short, it is still very simplistic, both in gameplay and the "graphics", so to speak; So it can fall into the not notable/trivial area.

While 50 levels sound a lot, some of them are very short and simple, you just have to walk to the end goal and maybe jump some times along the way. The 2 bosses that chase you are not really bosses; you easily walk through the level without even seeing them after the beginning. The 2 other bosses, while requiring memory of their movement pattern so you can avoid them, don't require any other special action from your character. Looking at the art design and animations... while the game is built in Unity, it still looks like many of the thousands of old Flash games around the internet.

Web games and free games on free portals (like Itch.io, Gamejolt and Steam) are held to higher standards by the site staff, when deciding to accept a game to SRC. If you want more information about the rejection, you can contact the site staff about this (content moderator or full moderator); but I assume it won't be far from what I wrote above.

That being said, I don't mean to undermine your work for this game, just explaining why it probably won't be accepted to the site with the current rules. Good luck on your future games!

I don't understand though. A lot of games are "simple" but they are still accepted. Like, even if we talk about This Is The Only Level, the game is quite simple, and even though it has some gimmicks and interesting things, you can't deny that it is a simple game. Why would that game be accepted?

Even so, that game (and its developer, jmtb02) are some of the most popular on Flash, and the developer's works are more polished than many other webgames. It's not directly comparable to the game on this thread.

Regardless, @PASRC is correct: the rules do not apply retroactively.
