Softmodded PS2; which category should it belong? (PS2 or PS2 EMU)

I run a handful of games using a softmodded phat PS2 with HDD. It can run plenty of emulators and apps just like PCSX2 would do on PC.. but still runs using the PS2 hardware. I havent truly selected PS2 choice on my own runs has it is not played the traditionnal way; either disc only or HDD support.

If you're playing from a hard drive then it's Emu

The japanese version of Outbreak allows native HDD support for Sony's PS2 HDD. Something to bare in mind.

Emulator is a program that emulates the console, not because you add a HDD the real hardware will turn into an emulator. Also keep in mind that there is a lot of different ps2 models that perform different also if they have years of usage or just dirty, it can change the performance. Some PS2 support HDD, and some games support HDD, like outbreak.

Unofficial means like HD Loader and OPL Loader are a thing to be discussed, because as far as I know they are not official or supported by Sony.

Good thinking. I just felt that I was in a middle ground between PS2 and EMU, and couldnt figure out where to categorize this setup. And also, to respect other players running the game officially from the PS2 and the game disc (or disc + hdd support), I will classify any runs I make under the PS2 EMU platforming.
