Classic Mega Man boards when?

I wish it wasn't stagnant. :( I bet by the end of this year, it'll still be coming soon.

I don't really run DKC, because I can't finish the game. Lord knows how much I've tried. I can't really comment on that side of it, but Mega Man 2 is the one classic mega man game I feel I know a lot about and I would really love to see a board on the site, especially considering the recent/current Rockman 2 any% tourney.

I don't mind waiting, but it would be really nice if we could get a status update once every month or so :)

Considering the site is currently going through a significant shift in leadership it'll probably be a while before there's any news related to this. Regular stuff is still going through, but I imagine big projects like this are probably being put on hold until they resolve the current staff situation.

I could be wrong about that, but that's just something to take into consideration while waiting for new information.

All the more reason to let people manually set up the boards instead of waiting on a sync that may never come. As ROMaster2 said, it can be done in a matter of days. It's just a matter of the staff realizing that they don't have the time, inclination, knowledge, skill, and/or means to pull this off in a reasonable time frame and that it would save a lot of headaches for more than a few people to let someone else handle the load.

I don't know much about the Mega Man speedrunning community, but I'm assuming there's a reason they decided to attempt an API sync rather than just manually creating boards for those games. Perhaps they should reassess the situation in regards to that, but it's ultimately their choice. If they don't want to manually set up boards here for whatever reason, then we can't force them to do that.

In the meantime, Mega Man RTA Leaderboards exists, so it's not like there's a desperate or immediate need for the classic Mega Man leaderboards to be here specifically.

Just setting up the boards here doesn’t accomplish anything without proper syncing and this has been explained to you before.

Having two distinct group of mods - those on MMRTA and those here is not a good idea because if they don’t see eye to eye on something then there’s going to be arguments and other problems. Plus it would cause confusion among new runners about which LB is accurate and up to date. The two best solutions would be to have the same mods for the most part (Zelda did this between here and ZSR, but the MM community is less apt to use this site so it’s not really possible). That means the remaining best solution is the sync.

I know it’s frustrating not having an update, but especially now as the site re-does it’s moderation team, an update probably won’t come for a little while. With all do respect because I know you and others care about this, the site’s moderation team is more important than this sync.

@ShikenNuggets There's definitely a reason why they'd attempt the sync, and it's a good one. Pulling off a sync makes things super easy. Mega Man has hundreds of runs and it would take effort from any of us to manually port them over. Thing is, no one is getting the job done and although the sync is a good idea, the boards could have been up by now in the time it's taken them to get to this point from when I first started asking about it more than six months ago. Absolutely 0% of the people on this website are saying we should force site staff or anyone to manually set up the boards; I've offered to do it all myself and then hand over mod status to somebody else on multiple occasions. I stand by that. I'll do literally all of the work for 23 games and then let someone else take the reigns. I'm not here to increase my status, I'm not here for glory, I'm here for one reason and that's to make this site the most convenient site for speedrunners that it can possibly be. I'm here to get things done and that's it.

@Timmiluvs The Mega Man X series and Battle Network series are currently set up and working just fine without sync. The idea that it's sync or not at all holds no water here and those aforementioned series boards are proof of that. Additionally, the idea that there'd be two distinct groups of mods, one for each site, is also a non-issue. The moderators of MMLB.net are also moderating the X series on SR.com and they're doing a fine job of it. The issues that are being brought up as reason to oppose the idea are all accounted for. We all know based on what happened with X3 that when push comes to shove, the MMLB.net guys will step up and do the work if you give them the proper motivation. I showed that. All that's left is for site staff to give the greenlight and it's a done deal.

We have waited many years for the sync to happen, let crisco go through with setting up the boards and transferring the moderation afterwards.
