i like how this thread spawned a huge discussion about self-verification from a totally correct verification and someone just not knowing how Resi IGT works lol

@Punchy I figured some sort timing/rule/platform issue was at play. The "self-verification" works for the most part, concerning runs with videos attached, because even if someone self-verifies and does something dumb, literally anyone can just verify again by just watching the video or looking at the run.

I mean, it's not like if someone self-verifies something illegitimate, the run is forever set in stone, and no one is capable of touching or fixing anything.

True say tbh.

like I actually can't think of a time when a malicious run has actually been just pushed to live with self-verification, 99% of the time it's just some mundane data entry screwup or whatever and then someone fixes it when noticed and everyone gets on with their lives. It really doesn't strike me as an especially pressing issue.

don't get me wrong it's probably better to not self-verify if you can help it at all but I'm hard pressed to think it has caused serious harm.
