Upside down YouTube video?

I’m trying to upload a run to YouTube, and it keeps uploading upside down. Even when I changed the original video to upside down to cancel that out, it still uploaded wrong. Any ideas how to fix?

edit: remove now-broken link

@Pear you sure you're uploading the right video after editing? Generally it would only play upside down if the footage is upside down.

I've done stuff like that a lot where I edit something then upload the unedited version.

Yes, I’m sure. I didn’t edit the video.

I tried duplicating the original video and uploading that, same issue.

I also tried uploading a different video. That one rotated sideways. 😐

I'm not really certain what you're using to change the video orientation, but my recommendation would be downloading the upside-down version you've uploaded to YouTube, from YouTube, then rotating that version, as the format might be more cooperative. I've had experiences where rotating a video/photo using iOS camera tools doesn't actually change anything about it outside of viewing in the app.

See, the thing is that the original video wasn’t upside-down, and I didn’t rotate it. I didn’t edit it at all.

@RaggedDan Ok, I was able to get it to work following your suggestions, so thank you. Hopefully YouTube fixes whatever the issue was so I don't have to go through this whole process every time....

Edit: it’s happening again now with another video. 🙄

What are you recording with? That's likely the culprit, never had this issue w/ youtube.

My iPhone, either with the camera or the built-in screen recorder. I’m doing exactly the same as I’ve done for the past year and only started having these problems a few days ago.

@Pear there are a few things to note that could have caused this.

You said you have an iPhone right? Well technically there is a feature named "Portrait Orientation Lock" if this is off, you can flip your iPhone screen around, and if it was done during gameplay, that's probably the reason why that's happening. Ways to prevent this?

  1. If you don't want this off, turn it on to disable flipping your iPhone screen around.
  2. Use the "Photos" app on your iPhone and edit the video. There is an option to rotate your screen, back to 0 degrees.

@bigboi32 The video wasn’t upside down. YouTube changed it after uploading.

@cats How do I access the “web studio” from mobile? It just tries to redirect me to the YT Studio app, which has no upload option.

It automatically redirects me there. Are you on iOS?
