Leaderboards moderation requests thread

I'm not particularly interested in getting too deep into Cosmeme's personal interactions with other people, but as someone within the community (and someone who has achieved a modicum of success within it) I would greatly appreciate SOME reform. I know we did mod reform a little while back, but I don't think this situation was brought up around that time. I'd love to see some series mods that will better reflect the community, seeing as it's just SHiFT right now. I hope SHiFT will consider taking this step for these games, and if he does I'd love to see him pick people that he trusts to accurately reflect the wide base of us.

Just to add a few things to cosmeme's story, he had been banned and/or unmodded for a few other reasons such as general misconduct in community discords (creating several alts after receiving community bans on his mains for previous issues, and being toxic to provoke several members of the community.)

Edited for clarity, lapse of memory on my part

^ I honestly don't know where this comes from. I was unmodded from the 3 games the day of the "fake" run. This is shown here where SHiFT directly states that I was unmodded for the act on the BfBB leaderboards. https://www.speedrun.com/rotfd/thread/s9iga

EDIT: he fixed the post, and yeah he's correct on MOST of that. I've always been one to call out bullshit when I see it in the community to say the least lol. I wouldn't especially say toxic, rather I never really stop arguing something if I know there's a valid reason to it. Take that how you will.

Later update: I'm totally open to have a conversation with SHiFT in private. This is likely the only way I'll be in contact with him but I'd be more than willing to work this out in private. Since he'll probably find out about this in the next few hours I'd figure I would put this here. I'm probably heading off for the night but I'll be checking the thread tomorrow as well as my Discord so I'm all up for a peaceful conversation with him to work this all out without interference from SRC mods. Then again, this is only partially for my issue with SHiFT personally, so the whole super mod thing won't be resolved in private chat and will have to be a topic of discussion within the community. Have a nice night.

If you are here to request to be promoted back to mod after being demoted, that can only cause more problems, frankly, for you and the community.

If you're here for any other reason, this is the wrong thread.

Again, please don't co-opt this thread for undermining active mods or for drawing the attention of the admins away from the legitimate requests here. I think you know better.

It's not my place to pass judgment on the merits of your problem. But since I'm already replying, I'll mention that I think you need to try to repair your relationship with SHiFT very GRADUALLY, or move on. This isn't a problem that can be resolved overnight, unfortunately. My2¢.

I think I had a stroke from looking at any of those spongebob forum posts.

edit: Yeah but like @6oliath said. It's you versus a bunch of other people, speedrunning is very much community driven. If that community sees you as a problem then you should work on fixing your relationship with them instead of trying to go behind them and having SRC change things.

my apologies, the post was originally meant to be the first one but it kidna sprawled out of hand lol. i'll try and find a better place on it now that more posts are being made of it, though my mod requests on the three games i was unfairly demodded from is still a thing.

edit to @KomradeKontroll - it's really not me versus a bunch of people, in fact there are those who think that this is a pretty accurate post of sorts. i've been pretty much restricted from contacting those in power either by means of blocking or just being banned from both shift and the bfbb discord servers. this is pretty much my last resort unfortunately, as these issues have been going on for months.

another edit: i'm on good terms with nearly everyone in the most active spongebob discord, so it's not like everyone in the community is actively going against me.

the main goal of this post is to get my mod back on those three games, as i believe i rightly deserve. i still feel this way so i hope a mod or other type of person in power of SRC has a look at this.

Let me say this: As someone entirely outside the community, when someone submits a run they KNOW is not theirs or submits a run they KNOW is theirs under another name, I lose a huge amount of trust in that person when it comes to the leaderboards. Anyone who does that does not deserve to be a moderator- if you feel there's an issue with the game's moderation verification that bad that you think you can pass a run off that's not yours or pass another account with your run as not yours, you should talk with the game's moderators about being a bit better about verification than to pull that kind of a stunt. So I, as an outsider, am 100% against you being a moderator on that stunt alone.

As far as how you've been treated since then... I'd say that there's a lot of issues at hand here and that maybe SHIFT isn't the person who should be in charge, but that all goes well beyond the scope of this thread, and even if anything happens it should not be with restoring you to moderator status of the game.

I think you missed the message of the post, it isn't the same game. I'm talking about the games I was formerly modded on. It's also worth noting that the mods KNEW it was a joke, and had a 0% reason to think it was a real run and it was sent in as a joke and referred to as a joke. 100% satire. If you still hold that opinion after realizing this, I totally get that.

As someone who has been in the community for over 2 years, I will say that (initially, at least) SHiFT never wanted to be the spearhead of the community, it just happened that his stream blew up and he kinda just got thrusted into the role of leader.

I didn't miss the point of the post. You made a dumb decision. You passed off something that was someone else's as not that person's. Joke or not, you messed with the leaderboards, and that kind of act is not something that I can give anyone trust in after doing so. How do we know you haven't done it before? How do we know your runs are verified correctly, or runs you verified are correct? Without that trust that you lost, we don't know. And that trust is why I don't feel you should be a moderator. You broke that trust. You need to understand what breaking that trust involves, and my opinion is that you should not be a moderator as a result of it. You may earn it back. I don't know. But it will not be easy and it will not be fast.

Now, I'm just making sure that you know, that I immediately deleted the run and called the person who verified it out on it. It was not under my account or my run. It has nothing to do with my runs at all, and the connection is nonexistent. Same with the runs I have verified. This had nothing to do with my ability to verify runs and positively impact a community. I don't want to clog up the thread more than this discussion already has, so this will be my last response to you. Feel free to contact me on Discord if you still have concerns on my ability to be trusted.

Restoring you as a mod while you still have horns locked with other mods will do more harm than good. If you can't see that, you don't have the game's community's best interests at heart.

See my previous post for what I think is more constructive. You need to de-escalate the problem.

And... Wrong topic.

Thanks for your constructive post Grape it's always appreciated. And yeah you're not wrong @6oliath as of late I have been trying to get along more with the mods, and succeeding for the most part. About that picture of me saying it was to test the mods, I was banned from the server temporarily shortly after and therefore I cannot see the messages where I corrected myself. I rushed those messages out admittedly so there you go.

EDIT: my messages were deleted by Discord as I was temp banned. Here's what I see now, excluding my messages for that reason http://prntscr.com/hr21wp

I have nothing to do with the community and just read all the post here but I feel like SHiFT isn't a good series mod, to one part because he literally blocked the contact with Cosmeme and because he doesn't even like the games except BfBB (if I understood that correctly). Tho' I also feel like Cosmeme shouldn't be a mod either, rather someone else actually.

And @Cosmeme you can still create guides and overall help the community without being a mod.

@blueYOSHI Unfortunately, the idea that SHiFT doesn't like the other games is so widely spread because of his opinions on The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. He voiced on multiple occasions the criticisms he had for the game, and it made people think he hated it. In reality, SHiFT has not ruled out running that game, and he thinks it's decent. The idea that SHiFT outright dislikes all the other games is only made up the way it is because he criticized the 2nd most popular game in the series.

Anyone who intentionally falsified a run 'to test the mods' should be wiped from the boards.

That's quite an extreme opinion

I disagree that their runs should be removed from the boards, but their new submissions should be treated with more scrutiny than normal runs would be

I might have missed the answer in the discussion, but what was your intention when submitting the fake run?
