4k is max with nvidias downsampling it seems, I enabled all possible options already.

From my run yesterday. Bad GPU and resolution change. Not even particles from a molo were necessary to get below the fps threshold.

I think that glitch would work with my old gtx 560 TI gpu :P

@qd what was your gpu again? radeon 66xx?

Hey hey,

my GPU is a AMD Radeon HD 6670.

And another thing about the video in my last post: This also proves that there is a lower threshold for fps below which the Glitch will not work either. So it is somewhere between 45 and maybe 10 fps (?).

Twitchy! We figured that out when we were testing it the first time it happened. Another use for a molly, my runs will be item whores to the very end. ..

Hey,

as there are different opinions on this, I would like to put it on the table right away. With my old GPU I was able to reproduce the "Ps4 Exclusive" on pc without an outside tool. I did that by putting up resolution so the framerate was right to get it.

Now the question is: Is this glitch to be allowed on pc?

What are the important factors:

  • is it understood and reproducible? (YES)
  • is it reproducible for everyone? (on console: YES / on pc: 1] with an outside tool (TAS > seperate category required); 2] with a bad hardware setup, like bad GPU)

So it's not reproducible for everybody right now because some setups simply will be too strong to have FPS drop into the "glitch-field". I think, we might be able to find a way to get this glitch working in the future without any additional tools. Right now, almost everybody agrees, it should be allowed for consoles. So why not for pc?

Remember: With my bad GPU, even if I turned down everything, I still have hardware lags, will make steps due to that, and get caught by the alien more often. Also because of hardware lag I have to use more fuel to fend off the alien because I cant dose it as differentiated as on an high-fps-setup. So the question also is: Do the disadvantages outweigh the advantage of this special glitch?

What is your opinion?

My personal opinion is: We should have a look into FPS-locking and extend the rules to one specific, defined and obligatory program you have to use if you want to lock FPS to execute this glitch in a normal run. This glitch is too valuable to leave it out, but it's not important enough to create totally new categories for this.

We agreed on no third-party tools, so that means the glitch is off the table until something new (within the confines of the game) is discovered and is usable by everyone, regardless of hardware. It is a one minute time save, which is pretty huge.

Your two runs submitted that used it will stay, but don't use it again in a submitted run until it's something anyone can use without third-party programs or downgrading their GPU.

What if Vsync is activated?

What if the monitor runs at 30 fps (that's a Windows configuration), and the game is windowed?

Maybe life is harder at 30 fps, but maybe the player runs faster

^^anyone tried? I think that is fair game, to set the monitor at 30 fps, even if is necessary to configure a personalized resolution.

I tried to see if it was possible, only thing I found was interlaced 30 fps which was unbearable for me to look at. I didn't even start the game to see if it worked. I know some games requires 60 fps and an FPS counter visible on PC for speedrunning, for example Fallout 4. It's something to consider if it becomes a problem.

Many TVs work/can work at 30p and 48p fps, non interlaced. Enabling vsync locks the fps at that rate.

All you need is an hdmi cable.

Just to be clear, future runs on PC that use the M17 low fps door glitch will be rejected.

Here is a section of the rules:

"Game corruption, random memory leaks by keeping the game open for too long and other non-reproducible glitches are not allowed."

It falls under the non-reproducible glitches category.

Using the glitch on console is still acceptable.
