Several runners have set records in this [Ib Remake RTA].

But their fingers and muscles (mainly the arms!) At this RTA are crying.

Therefore, I would like permission to use a controller or keyboard with a rapid fire function in this RTA.

If you are a moderator and have noticed this form, please consider it.

The museum becomes a very easy-to-run place just by using a controller that can hit repeatedly.

Please consider

Thank you for watching.

I don't know if I understood correctly with the rapid fire function but if you mean Turbo it is not allowed, I noticed in your runs that you skip dialogues even faster, you can hold Z to skip dialogues so you don't have to mash the problem for some may be to sense the perfect moment when you can move, as for the controller it is not convenient if you play with an analogue knob because of the options you have to select

Thank you for listening to this word.

And I'm very happy that you replied

Pressing the Z button to solve some problems is a method that is also used in Japan, which is very convenient.

In some places the Z button does a very good job of running fast.

However, in this RTA, high-speed automatic repeated hits play an important role in order to be faster.

You can also make quick choices, enter passwords, and quickly look up things.

They can even cure this myalgia of mine

please. Would you please allow a controller or keyboard that can be hit repeatedly?

Ask for permission.

I would be grateful if you could get the words "You can use a controller or keyboard with a rapid fire function".

Please give me permission.

I'm sorry for the hard-to-read sentences

Thank you for serving as a moderator.

Please think if you like

Thank you for watching so far

Hi, Tegron. My opinion is same of Hanakami's.

I think we should mush a Z key to skip faster the dialogue with options because dialogue has stopped when we just hold key.

That's correct, It's effective hold Z key to skip dialogue doesn't include opinions.

So, I suggest we can separates use Turbo software (likes AutoHotKye or JoytoKye...) or hold Z key depending on situations.

Please consider our proposal.

Off the top of my head I can think of exactly one RPGM game that allows any use of turbo which is Omori, but that's only because the game is over 2 hours long.

A generally accepted rule for these games is to not allow turbo use. The game itself has no built in feature to allow for this so any turbo application would require a third-party software out with the boundaries of the game itself; a practice generally unallowed in speedgames in general excluding exceptional circumstance.

For the time being, I will not be allowing turbo functionality.

In this case I agree with EddventureTime58, besides @Hakanami have you used Turbo before in this game? I will admit that your gears seemed suspicious because of the text and I thought at the very beginning that it hest depended on the computer

Of course, I'm suspicious because I'm posting like this. Of course I don't use a rapid fire controller or keyboard It is okay to lose the certification of the record because there is no evidence.

In the future, we are planning to perform a live that includes keyboard sounds, so I would like to ask if there is another opportunity for certification.

Thank you to the two moderators for their polite answers.

We look forward to your continued support of Ibremake's RTA.

Thank you for this time.

It's fair to say that your text speed is super quick compared to other runs but I also understand that the game is only recently released and it's still early days for the speedrun in general, so we can't say for sure that a turbo was used. The engine the game is made on is particularly unstable as well so there's so much that could affect the game outwith turbo usage.

What button(s) are you mashing for your textboxes? A few runners are using different methods at the moment and we're trying to narrow down what the fastest method is. I figured I'd ask you directly since you have the fastest text boxes.

For the time being we are happy to leave your run on the board but we'll review it again when the keyboard sound run is uploaded. Looking forward to seeing more runs from you in the future!

Thank you very much

I use Enter and space to play with less Z.

I will continue to run the Ib remake RTA created by the wonderful moderators.

Thank you very much for this time.

I opted to test turbo timings myself on a reasonable amount of unbroken dialogue (from touching the toybox to gaining control in the path where Garry finds Ib unconscious so it's unbroken dialogue with no movement or dialogue selections) and got these general results

turbo: 25~ sec holding Z to advance text automatically: 25.4~ sec me attempting to manually mash Z/Enter/Space: 26~ sec

My turbo functionality was in fact, the exact same script used in the aforementioned OMORI run, mainly because I made that script and I still had it so lol. It mashes only Z at a completely impossible rate.

These are approximate, I did it a few times and this was the general range and the third test is subject to individual differences in mashing technique.

Edit: Additionally, I also tried this in both English and Japanese and again got the same general results, meaning I also conclude there's no particular difference in text speed from language selection either. Or at least, I think. This test isn't perfect.

basic gist: yeah turbo is faster than advancing text by holding even on unbroken dialogue with no interstitial inputs, but I have so far found it pretty difficult to mash fast enough to gain an advantage over the normal hold for just pure text boxes unless there's some technique to it I'm not understanding.

Posting all of this because this is different from OMORI, where mashing fast enough to gain an advantage over that game's automatic text advancement was not particularly hard but is incredibly obnoxious to do over the course of a multiple hour run, whereas here I have found it incredibly difficult to gain a meaningful advantage that way besides using turbo.

this post has no conclusion I just figured this might be useful
