Resident Evil / BioHazard (serie) Clock Tower (serie) Haunting Ground / Demento Dino Crisis 1 + 2 (even if 2 is way more action-oriented) Fatal Frame / Project Zero (serie) Alone in the Dark (serie)

There's definitly more but these are the only ones i can think of rn.

Personnaly, i sometimes still get scared when running horror games, but the more you play, the less things affects you, especially when the same things happens at the same time every run (like some enemy breaking a door after picking up a specific item for example).

For some games, though, even while knowing all this, it still feels really scary and tense in general (i'm mostly thinking of Alone in the Dark for this, the ambience in this game is something else).

Most horror games are just 90% jumpscares and 10% actual horror. Any jumpscares are ruined as you know they are coming, and you would be desensitised to any actual horror after seeing it lots of times.

Welcome to the game? Does that even count as horror?

Just did a run on a new horror game called Seek or Die (free on steam) how do I add this game to horror? *Got a 36.76 sec on part 2 Die.

I run Clock Tower 3 and let me tell you, while most of the scares become routine, there is one that is slightly random as to when it will occur and it still scares the crap outta me sometimes.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is a great example of how a horror game can be made completely hilarious. If you want to get into horror game speedrunning I would suggest that.

I run SCP Containment Breach and yes, I do get heart attacks. So I turn the volume down so I only get mini heart attacks.

I love the game so it's worth it lol

Really not all horror games are good at their jobs as most of the time they rely on nothing but jump scares the color red and flashing lights as in bad atmosphere building. Then you got the Diamonds like SCP and Amnesia the dark descent but even then you will get desensitized after awhile.

It’s playing enough to get desensitized. It’s not really that scary if you’re expecting it, right?

The Slender still appears in my face.
