here's an idea i just thought of: individual level per-level categories and per-category variables

this is applicable to two games i run, ssx tricky and tony hawk's underground 2

in ssx tricky, there are 2 IL categories: time trial, and time trial clean. but, for some races, those are the same thing. clean means you don't void out or manually reset your character's position, and in some levels - see: alaska - you either can't void out, or voiding out isn't faster. either way, you don't do it.

in that case, it would be nice to not have a category that shouldn't be there.

and with tony hawk's underground 2, there are two game modes: story, and classic. story mode does not have an in-game timer, but classic mode does. so, it would be nice to have in-game time, but only for classic mode.

I've just submited my new record in Need for Speed: Underground 2 and for some reason both my runs are visible on the game page. Could someone please look at it?

http://www.speedrun.com/Need_for_Speed_Underground_2

also: i set up some ILs for tony hawk's pro skater 4, but they're not showing up on the game page. anyone know what's up?

you have to create an IL category in order to make ILs show up on the game page, so try that if you haven't already

Over on the Ape Escape series we realized there was no category for the mini-game, Mesal Gear Solid. We decided that the best course of action was to create a new 'game' within the series for the minigames within the series, but I found I was not allowed to add a game to the series.

I'm pretty sure that series super mods used to be allowed to add games-was this functionality removed on purpose?

According to http://www.speedrun.com/games, metroid prime has 190 players. If you look at the runs visible on its game page, this is cleary not right. I am guessing the 190 is including runs from categories that have now been removed (ie, any% segmented), which I suppose are still saved somewhere. This is not exactly something in urgent need of a fix, I just thought it looked a bit weird, and probably isn't intended behaviour.

Deletion of runs etc when categories are deleted and similar things is kinda shitty (read non-existent) at the moment. I'd like to get that cleaned up, which'll also reduce a lot of additional checks necessary atm in a lot of places to make sure the run is valid. Adding those same checks on the games page is a bad idea though, since it'll make the page load way slower. Thanks for pointing that out though, it's definitely something that needs to be dealt with at some point.

Guides that I have not submitted all come up with the editable boxes underneath http://gyazo.com/cace4dd999ba3c3071ff15939e97d650

But any guide I have submitted looks normal.

So currently, pages that sort by IGT order tied runs by RTA if it's available. This is great! Now I'd like to request going even further: an option (not sure if it should be default or not) to actually break the ties instead of just sorting within them. For example, http://www.speedrun.com/fusion would keep its runs in the exact same order, but it would list JRP as 1st, biospark as 2nd, kahdoom as 3rd, and so on.

My game request for Hagane: The Final Conflict has been accepted today but I didn't received any notification: http://puu.sh/jnE5y/ff9a5033f1.png

Edit: Nevermind I just received it http://puu.sh/jnI23/19ab436e2c.png

I'll definitely implement that into the timer update, probably not before since even the sorting within is kinda hacky atm. [small][small][small]That update will really be happening at some point, I swear...[/small][/small][/small]

I tried to submit a run to the Hitman Codename 47 IL leaderboard, but it says "this category doesn´t exist", although it obviously does or should.

Czech Republic

I've noticed that until about a week ago, whenever I opened any level on level leaderboard and clicked on submit run, the "Level" was automatically chosen for me, but now it always chooses the first one on the leaderboard and if you don't change it manually you may end up submitting a run for a completely different level.

EDIT: Also, would it be possible to add sorting by name and number of runs of level leaderboard? Just an option for mods.

EDIT: Another thing I thought of - add Follow button to game series.

[quote] EDIT: Another thing I thought of - add Follow button to game series. [/quote] There's currently no follow button for series as I first want to be a bit more clear on the status of a future update to the series system (which may or may not break following series, I don't want to add something that'd be removed again a bit later). In any case, what were your thoughts about following series, would it do anything different than following games?

What I mean is to be able to sort the levels on level leaderboard by their names or how many runs they contain. If you have a really long list of levels on level leaderboard (eg: fan made levels), it's really painful to move each level to their desired position on the leaderboard since you can only move it by ONE position up or down. Currently there is no sorting. Or maybe give each level an ID number that mods could change. The best would be of course drag&drop, but I have no idea if that's real in your system.

Follow button wouldn't do anything differently than following specific games. It's just a comfort thing.

My newly validated runs aren't shown in my notifications and it's not a misc category :/

"Obscure Platforms" is not obvious enough and the UI for platform selection should be updated to remove the need for that construct.

Realistic reasons:

  1. The obscurity of a platform is presumably arbitrary (if static) or based on an arbitrary point (if dynamic).
  2. It's annoying when setting up a game, looking for the platform, then thinking it must be under another name, then remembering the "Obscure platforms" UI.
  3. The resulting UI from hiding "Obscure platforms" is as complex as if it had twice the number of platforms already shown.
  4. Saving space on vertical scrolling in a page most people don't see or often use seems like a bizarre choice.

Whiny reasons: My favorite platform is obscure, so the above happens every single time.
