IL Leaderboards

Hello! I see many games have IL leaderboards, but quite some of them are almost, or completely, empty. Something I've been wondering: should times submitted to the IL leaderboard include that level only, or can IL records be part of full runs, or even failed runs that had some really good splits earlier on?

Another question: is it possible to restrict IL categories from specific levels?

European Union

it depends heavily on the game. for example Monster Hunter games and similar games with levels that aren't story-restricted have the problem that full game run parts of these levels are a lot slower than the pure IL runs, simply because of items aquired later in the game.

for games that are purely IL that have set stuff for each IL, it can work, for example Akane the Kunoichi runs could be translated 1:1 into ILs without a problem.

Yes, ILs can be submitted if they came from full game runs as long as they share the same rules. Often times ILs can have different rules/timings than full game runs (such as being able to use high level equipment or abilities) so I would double check that they follow the same rules before submitting parts of full runs to IL boards.

As for the second question, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that.

EDIT: HDK types faster than I do.

Thanks! I suppose I'll only take the time to submit IL records if they're really good, anyway.

As to the other question: in the game Ice Age, there are two categories for full game runs: Any% and 100%. Those categories carry over to the IL runs. However, if you 100% all levels, you'll get a bonus level. That level should have an IL leaderboard as well. But in the bonus level the 100% condition for the other levels isn't achievable. This means there's no difference between Any% and 100%. On top of that, the bonus level ends in a different way than the normal levels do, which means the timing rules don't apply. It would be useful if I could make that one IL leaderboard have a different category than the others. :)
