Reviewing the Turbo Button Ban

Hello,

Recently I've been hyped for the Retro Fighter's new N64 controller and have also taken up Star Fox 64 speedrunning. However I just noticed that it had a turbo button therefore causing a conflict for all games I would like to speedrun. Is there any way this turbo button 3rd party controller ban can be lifted as it would be painfully obvious that someone is using a turbo button? Or at the very least add an exception if we do a controller cam?

Apologies for the frustration this may cause but I would really like to get this controller for comfort purposes and be able to use it for speedrunning.

Thank you.

Oh ya, we've had people submit with handcam before when they've thought to have been using Turbo. The problem with Turbo is that mashing is such a huge part of the run, and it's a part of what determines someone's overall skill at the game. There's nothing wrong with using the controller so long as you don't use the turbo function.

If you can't mash, there's a method of shooting where if you hold A, before you start a charge shot you shoot 3 shots. If you have the right rhythm, you can send out ~9-10 shots per second, which is enough to do any quick kill strat in the game (I've tested).

I personally firmly believe in the turbo button ban, but have no problem with you using a turbo controller so long as you don't use the turbo function, which as you said, would be really obvious.

I suppose I misread and thought that it meant turbo controller ban :P

I disagree, It can easily not be noticeable that someone is using a turbo button. You can still "mash" the button with turbo on and get a greater effect than with it off. My counter question is, How hard is it for you to just simply not use a 3rd party controller with turbo? Answer, Insanely easy, easier than using that controller you want to use.
