As werster said, Tails and Sonic runs are very similar. In fact, the only difference between Sonic solo runs and Tails runs is that Tails is shorter, which really only affects the Wing Fortress slope glitch kill (you can't see Tails at all) and the 12-0 Death Egg kill is marginally easier (though tbh it is rather hard to notice). The more significant changes by far are that the Chemical Plant 2 skip is much harder with either Sonic solo or Tails, and you can't do the Metro 3 level wrap at all.
It's also easier with Tails to do the Casino Night 1 level wrap, (0:24, not 0:20) but that's an IL strategy. I doubt that would happen in SS runs unless someone really wants that sub 14.

Over the past week, speedrun community members of Sonic 2 have discussed and voted on a potential switch to the primary timing method for Sonic 2, which has been IGT (In-Game Time) for as long as the game has been ran. IGT promotes a playstyle that abuses pausing, which gets amp
