Hello, i've been watching GDQ and speedruns for over 5 years now and always wondered what game I should speedrun to start.

I discovered Kusogrande a few weeks ago and I wanted to participate to the next edition. As a result I finally decided to start speedrun.

I started with the Strider tutorial from AGDQ 2018 (need to improve my time now). I'm thinking about running castlevania (nes) and dark souls. These are games that I quite enjoy and don't seem out of reach for a beginner.

Is there a bad game that is quite easy to run ? I like the idea of completing a terrible game fast :p

Just run what you want to run! If u really want to get started tho i would recccoment web games since they dont last as long but nothing is off limits! Have a good time speedrunning!

There is no such thing as "out of reach for a beginner".

If you decide you love Castlevania and want to speedrun it, and complete the game in one hour, hey - you have a speedrun! You can then work towards getting that time down to 59 minutes, 58 minutes, whatever. 2snek didn't start at 11 minutes - they built their way up over three years.

Similarly, Dark Souls. You like that game? You can complete it? Cool, complete it and submit the time. The get a better time. And a better one. Or move onto another game.

The point is - welcome to speedrunning. It isn't at its essence a competition against the world, it is a competition with yourself. You play what you enjoy, and once you've completed it, play it again and try to go faster :)
