Hey guys we can discuss here about the different categories in this game. We can make a 100% category (in 100% I think we must take all the codex; runs; parchments (I don't know if it's correct xD); all the monster autopsys and the Mantorok run). And start the game with all the elements of course. And for the other categories... I don't know what we can make :P
I've thought about 100% for a long time, and in my opinion that in addition to the things you mentioned also including weapons and such items, EG elephant gun etc in Edward's chapter, crossbow in Roberto's and so on.
Also getting the enchanted gladius, which will require strats through out several different chapters.
Regarding other categories than Any% and 100% I've talked with Llyno about categories such as Mantorok% which will simply mean Any% with the Mantorok run and you don't have to collect all other things that you will be required for in a 100% run. I presented this category mostly for practice a 100% but without getting all the items, sorta of a test-thingy.

Yeah, I think so too! A Mantork% would probably be longer than Any% but longer than 100%, and my guessing is that after you get the rune in Lindsey's chapter things will not be that hard, although you have to concider the magick meter for some characters, which means you can't just use a Mantorok pool all the time!

I am new to speed running, and I just started running this game at any% to see if I could do it. Turns out I'm not bad. Not the best, but not bad. (Second real time was 2:29:43) When I get some good streaming equipment I'll start submitting and doing stuff on twitch. Question: Who would be interested in doing a 100% run of this game? (All codexes, all scrolls, mantarok rune and enchanted gladius is what I'm thinking. Also, making sure you know the 3-5-7 point versions of each spell? Perhaps just all of the ammo and stuff in Alex's chapter as well, as that's the main story?)
I think that this game has a lot of potential for very interesting competition, considering you can just play individual stories as well. (Segmented relay race, perhaps?) Who is interested?

Hey! There was a lot since last time I connected here. I'm interested to make a 100% run yeah, but before we should make the Mantorok category.
Well, the Mantarok category really would just affect the Edwin Lindsey storyline, right? I mean, I'm all for seeing what will happen - specifically how having access to the Mantarok element to the Magik Pool spell would affect the rest of the run.
Would the Mantarok% run only require the mantarok rune? Or is there something more that you think can be explored?

Yes, all these ideas seems to be an excellent way of creating new ways of playing it, any%, mantarok%, as well as indivudual lvls. I've been out of the game far too long, but I am still interested in all things you guys have to say about it, of course.
I've played this game for quite some time and I'm interested in bringing more of this game to life out here in the speedrun world.
I'll be testing a Mantarok% run in a couple of days just to see how that changes the game. (I have a feeling that the Mantarok pool will open up some interesting things) I've also gotten a few ideas about what a 100% run would look like. Right now the list of items needed for a 100% run that I have thought of:
- Enchanted Gladius
- All Codexes
- All Spell Scrolls
- Mantarok Rune
- Shotgun
- Pistol
- All Ammo in Mansion
- All Letters and Notes
Obviously I'm thinking that the items you need to get are only for Alex's Story. Any other thoughts, or things that I am missing?
Also, I was thinking that a team segmented race would be fun. Each team has three people on it. One person plays the stories in the temple, one person plays the stories in the cathedral and one person plays the stories in and below the mansion. (This would make use of the "Jump to Story" feature on the title screen)

Yes, the Mantorok run it's like any% but it has a few changes in Edward's chapter. I agree with the intems you posted but another one that you didn't mentioned are the Max necropsies!

As for 100 %, yes, all the mentioned items should, imo, should you get in a hundo run, and as ZeldaPirate also mentions, the Max necropsies. Just to clarify shotgun/pistol would be all additional weapons that you can pick up, such as all the weapons in Michael, the firefighter's chapter, getting the elephant shotgun in Edward's chapter and such.
Something that just hit me, and would be like a meme, joke category would be like getting a specific sanity effect, one that doesn't usually appear, like the Hamlet one - Hamlet%. The funny thing would be that it has not (up until this point as least) any strategies to get a specific sanity effect, at least not to my knowledge.
Another would be All runes%, including doing the all three runes in one sitting, IE playing the game three times, if anybody wants to do it, of course, haha!

Sweet! Glad you enjoyed the run! I'll be doing plenty more in the future. I was running on a Wii Classic, and I think that the load times for the transition screens are slower on that. I got myself a GameCube to rectify that. :p
lol Hamlet%. I love it.
All Runes% sounds like a GRIND, man. I would hope that you don't require a fresh save file for that. There's about 2 hours of unskippable cutscene for that. On top of the already 7-8 hours of gameplay to complete all three rune runs.
That being said, I'd be interested in seeing a couple of categories like "Chaturga%" or "Ulyoth%" where you have to select one of those runes in the beginning. Might be cool to see how that affects the game. It would also show off some other things about the game's replay value.
You planning on doing any more runs, or streaming in the future? I saw a marathon run of yours (I think) on YouTube a while back. It'd be pretty cool to see you do some runs. (And some other stuff, as well)

A 100% run that includes doing all autopsies would require three playthroughs because they can only be done with Max and he can only examine the mantorok zombie then the zombie, bonethief, horror and guardian of the ancient that's been chosen as the enemy.
So we could make 100% either a '100% 1 path' where you only get the autopsies available for that path or accept the need to do three playthroughs for a "true" 100%, if the latter I would say the need to collect all the other items could be reserved for the third playthrough, since you can't carry things over between paths. (I think the former is more reasonable, because 2 extra playthroughs just to get the autopsies might be a bit much)
As for 'Chattur'gha%' or 'Ulyaoth%' those are in the same section as 'Xel'lotath%' just all under the category of any% :P

Also not necessarily a different category, It'd be nice for the alignment to be a variable. I think a "True Ending 100%" category would be neat for someone to lose 10 hours of their life on.
Suppppp how are you doing fellas? I have finally make the Mantorok% speedrun!! I changed the original name (Mantorok run) to Mantorok% because it's a little bit weird to say: Mantorok run speedrun :D. But if you are in disagree with this you can say it (we can put another name in this category if you want)!! This new category has a few changes in Lindsey chapter where you have to collect the Mantorok rune but the other is the same. I beat it in 2:45:55. So what are you gonna do guys? Give it a try jajaj! What about setting up IL leaderboards since the game has an unlock-able level select mode?
Individual levels. Since you can start right off the bat on any of the chapters through the selector, we could have a leaderboard for each chapter.
