Allow Userpatch

Is there a reason userpatch isn't allowed on the official runs?

I still have the cd version but it's just easier for me to launch through voobly on the userpatch 1.4 version than to switch to 1.0c, as I sometimes get errors.

There isn't really anything different at all about userpatch other than the relic bug fix (which works against the runs) and the patrol (which doesn't really apply to any of the runs in a significant way)

I used to allow it but there's no reason to keep it since apparently it messes with the AI and in turn likely will affect campaign runs.

If there's solid proof that it doesn't then it's no problem, but otherwise another solution would be more ideal.

It affects the way AI reacts, makes it behave more like HD.

Just set a lobby on voobly with patch 1.0c and it will keep those settings (just play in intermediate lobby where you never go otherwise anyways)

I thought Mh initial point against it was that it was not 'official' patch. Anyways, with how easy it is to play on 1.0c on Voobly, I don't think adding userpatch is really necessary.

Well userpatch is much easier to run offline without using steam or voobly. It also allows for larger resolutions. I was thinking if someone were to submit a run to gdq or something similar, do you really want them to have to play through voobly or have a widescreen patch installed for 1.0c?

I don't see the point of not allowing it.

get your shit together... makes no sense at all. Even I would start running it if would be allowed to use userpatch since user patch is the most common version these days.

So you guys want to keep it this way?

I've just been waiting for a decision before I do any more runs. I can't launch 1.0c anymore because there is something wrong with my disc and I'm just sitting here not able to do anything.

You don't launch 1.0c through Voobly? I still see you play there.

You want to run on 1.4RC, 1.4 or 1.5?

I can't launch the campaigns even with voobly without a working cd, always give me an error message. But they seem to work fine on 1.4RC

Thinking about it again, I wouldn't mind allowing userpatch but submitting under another game version variable in case there's some fancy stuff that other versions can't do. I'd rather not inconvenience you or anyone else, and we can see if the differences are significant anyway

That would work out just fine, let me know what you guys come up with.

Thanks!

I want to play a single-player game and ask someone to figure out what I'm doing. When you normally broadcast with OBS, you get a 15-second delay. What's the easiest way to share what I see on the screen with someone without noticeable delay? Does it consume a lot of CPU resources and therefore limit the streaming capabilities at the same time? By leaving here my custom writing I want someone to solve an internet problem as well as an additional CPU load.

@Mattwell Not sure this is the right thread for you to be posting this but whatever. If you stream on Twitch, there's only a ~2-3 second delay nowadays, but if you're concerned about CPU usage there are some things you can do to reduce it:

  • Using NVENC encoding (if you have an NVIDIA GPU) https://i.imgur.com/CcthUsk.png

  • Making the x264 encoding CPU usage "faster". The default is veryfast, you can try superfast but it'll probably reduce the quality of the stream so you'd have to increase your bitrate to compensate (but which in turn is an extra load on your bandwidth) https://i.imgur.com/f8GjiyT.png

Besides that, you can do private streams on Discord and Steam quite easily without OBS. For Discord, you join a voice channel and select "Screen" on the bottom of the lefthand side to select an application to stream to other voice channel participants. For Steam, someone who has you added as a friend can choose to watch your game if they right-click on you in the friends list and select "Watch Game", which automatically streams your game.

Sorry if any of this is stuff you already know.
