regarding console resets

Hi, so i haven't ran this game is a while, but i can remember from when I did, that reseting on console was a nightmare. Emulator runners have the luxery of save states to load a state at the title screen every time they reset, but console runners have to hardreset their ps2s every time (which takes around a minute from reset to start of the next attempt) in the game sadly u cannot load a blank file, but there is another potential solution. Allow runners to simply scroll back to 1-1 every time they want to reset, this causes no differences I can think of. (except for lives, which could be 'fixed' to the regular amount before every reset) the game still attempts to play the cutscenes at the times it normally would, and the game still scrolls to the next stage/world after u beat the previous level. In the end this would make speedrunning this on console a lot more bareably in my opinon.

Agreed. No reason to wait that long to reset when scrolling back to 1-1 is basically the same as starting again from the title screen.

I actually disagree. Even though I also run the game on console, I believe that runs should be done on a fresh file with no progress to help prevent cheating and other confusions that could arise.

Yea, I mean it makes cheating a little easier I guess. But theres still a proof standard, if anyone looks over the run before aproval that be extremely easy to catch if someone just starts scrolling over levels. But yea I forgot to mention I think a better solution to all this would be just loading a file with ONLY 1-1 beat, dont know if that makes it better in anyones eyes though.

loading a file with ONLY 1-1 iirc I don't think that's possible without resetting the console. You get to choose to load files only once. Once in a save file, you can't load another (I might be wrong though) I very much agree the reset is annoying, though really it's not that bad and certainly not as bad as other games have it.

I'm usually more on the side of starting games from a fresh file when speed running (unless it's impossible or too impractical). Even if it doesn't seem to change anything. But that's really more out of principles. I don't think M&M Shell Shock will have some crazy glitch or become optimized to a point where it truly matters, as much as I would like to see that.

So I'm against. Not a hill I'm willing to die on though, so if ends up allowed, I'll go with it.

I suppose there's no harm of making this run more accessible by making it easier to reset as long as we know for a fact that nothing is changed, and that the run starts at 0 lives. My disagreement was partially because of principal as well (although I didn't state it that way lol) but I'm willing to support the majority on this decision.
