This board is in desperate need of a new moderation team, or it will die.

I feel now is a good time to present my opinion on this as well, since I was planning on making a post similar to this.

It has become increasingly clear recently that by the looks of things, only one of your mods cares. When the discussion was first brought up for example about dividing Any% into DLC and No DLC, it was immediately shot down with no real time for discussion. When it was suggested again, only one of the board's mods actively went to talk to runners of the category to ask for their opinion instead of just going with the majority. The fact that only one person went out to get more information and the remaining mods dismissed the issue again shows a clear disregard for what their role actually is here, and I have personally come to heavily respect the mod in question - for a lack of a better way of putting it, from what I understand I personally wouldn't be able to put up with the bullshit that they do.

Many people have started coming back to this game. Recently greengatea has started running this game again, and many people in my own stream and community have shown an interest in running not only individual quests, but also full game speedruns. A major thing that will get in the way of potential growth is the board being run by people who seemingly only care about being a moderator for the sake of moderating, and I believe this needs to change.

At the same time however, I don't want to simply point fingers and throw a fit without doing anything myself. If there's anything that myself of any of the other runners of any category can do to help out, please let us know and PLEASE start to communicate better with the people who run this game.

Please stop hurting the community I'm starting to love, and start to change.

Back a day later with a revised script, this is how the board NEEDS to be organized in order for it to not be unusable. (Just so nobody can say my legitimate concerns are coming out of my ass and I have no actual plans on how to fix them)

Only entries for G rank quests, as well as full game runs. Things like super event quests can have their own categories, as well as specific levels of G rank levels of deviants with some exceptions. Nobody is going to actually care to speedrun a low rank village monster or gathering quest, it causes clutter for no reason.

Specified rulesets for hunts, leaderboards for quests done in TA rules as well as quests done outside of TA rules, as well as leaderboards for every specific weapon in the way the google spreadsheet does it, it won't be cluttered and it'll allow for easier sorting for a specific run that people are looking for.

Moderation team that actually cares and has knowledge of the game they're a moderator of. If you really wanna defend yourself and say that this isn't true and everyone here clearly has enough knowledge despite not being able to spot evidence of banned strategies that haven't even been banned yet, go ahead. Nobody is gonna agree with that though. It's clear that butting heads between moderators who don't want things that literally have no effect on them changed for pride(?) purposes is not a good thing in any community. As far as I can see the only moderator who actually knows anything about Monster Hunter is Rosianna, who is imo the only person who deserves to be a moderator here.

I didn't want to be the first to jump into the thread but no one else has answered so I'll have to be the one to do so.

Things haven't gone the way they were planned which I can point the blame on myself somewhat but I'm looking to change this so here what I have in mind...

If you have suggestions for changes to be made to the board then use this forum to have your opinion heard, I'll go through them all and we can make changes based on a community agreement. If you know anyone who's interested in running this game or already does then I encourage you to link them to this thread so they can also post their thoughts.

Here's what I will change with people's agreement.

 • Splitting Any% into no DLC and DLC categories, with no DLC being the standard.
 • Removing empty ILs and no longer adding submissions for new gathering quests that can be completed from the camp
 • Making a vote on whether timer manipulation should be legal in ILs and if so make it required to state whether used or not during submission

This is just a baseline for changes and many more can be added, I just wanted to state a few to let you know that I am listening to the runners and what they need for this board to be their #1 choice. Just know however that not every suggestion will be taken and added, there needs to be a healthy balance of desire and necessity

Sorry, I just seen this as I do have a lot on my plate generally in real life and normally have too many notifications. I am sorry you do feel this way, I have been really busy so away from the community a bit I am not exactly super well so sometimes I am to busy with all the stuff that comes with that to even think about the boards, although I still try my best to verify runs etc, from now on I will try to be more active within the community so I know what is going on more and can help out better because of that as well as not deleting my runs because I hate them haha.

As Rosianna points out these things I will say I would like to see the changes they mentioned implemented into the community I would also personally like to see more community voting on things not just timer manipulation but a whole host of other things too, like some of the things mentioned above and others too. Form small to big changes that way everyone gets a say and we can keep the boards up to date from any issues that may arise and also keep up the fun for current and future runners. For my personal views on timer manipulation, I really don't mind it as long as people say in the description they used it. (but lets put this up to vote in the appropriate places so we can get more peoples views on the matter where every that should be.) I think it is okay to be frustrated about this and I hope we can continue making changes together for the better. :)

I'm done w/ sr.c so take my opinion w/ whatever salt you have. Last time I even bothered to log into this was 4 Months ago, and only to grant Moderator rights to someone. Since sr.c's staff would rather ban someone than stop blatant censorship.
dividing Any% into DLC and No DLC
I don't see the point to this, really. Unlike MHW/IB DLC is not only always available to anyone, but also completely free, only requiring an online connection.

But if people were to run that way (which as far as I can see isn't the case) it would be given its own category. You can look back at my post history if you want to double check my stance on this.
Only entries for G rank quests, as well as full game runs. It can be summarized as "don't run g rank? fuck off then". This stuff is incredibly hostile to anyone interested in the series & speedrunning.

Only entries for G rank? no, speedrunning doesn't just exist for endgame, if it can be speedrun, it deserves its place on the board. nobody cares? I do, so stop speaking for others.

Rulesets I can agree with, it's added to XX (to a degree) & World already. however, they should never be added as seperated categories, make them filters. Besides needing to be actually curated, and not a "enter whatever you want" textbox.

However... Every specific weapon spreadsheet I've seen is shit, and is shit to navigate and even look at. that includes the TA wikis. They all are poorly done, as well as showing 1-3 people at best. Multiplayer is almost never included in them either. You can't see if someone has improved, you can't see the total amount of interest in them. sometimes there's just times listed without any kind of proof, because "that person is known in the community". I can't even express how violently I'd like to vomit every time I look at the MHGH Discord's "speedrun channel".

If you'd like to see how a hardsplit would look like, any of the mods can activate it for you to see. if it's in the category list, you get a 15-70 cell wide table, have fun even attempting to look at that. if it's as subcategories, you get 3-4 rows of subcategories, firstly, creating the same issue as above as your brain tries to make sense of it, as well as disabling any form of resemblance of activity, as the "All Levels" list now only displays the default weapon (probs Great Sword), showing nothing for any quest that doesn't have one with that weapon. no clutter? it's the epitomy of clutter, it couldn't create more clutter if it wanted to.

I know speedrun.com isn't the most intuitive, but even this unintuitive design is a hell of a lot better than whatever those spreadsheets are.

I'm all for positive change like more diversity and allowing everyone to run what they want. But there is little discussion-grounds for the way its displayed, it's already as optimized as the site allows it to be.

I take great offense to that, all 3 of the current moderators are capable. (myself excluded from the equation there because read the first block)
not being able to spot evidence of banned strategies
feel free to elaborate how any of the other boards spot this evidence when they only require an image to get on the boards. There's plenty cheaters on the TA Boards and the spreadsheets you oh so care about.

As far as I'm concerned with this, I'd just say it means video verification is required for all runs, as well as taking into account that IGT alone is not adequate - so RTA has to be added as well. Runs that don't meet this don't get to be listed - if something does sneak through, it can always be taken down again. A verification doesn't mean a run is untouchable - the verifier could always have overlooked something - we're all just humans.

If that's still not enough for you, then idk what standards you have, but I'm certain those spreadsheets aren't keeping up to those either.

Besides the fact that in regular speedrunning, nothing is banned. if something is optimal, it's optimal. limitations are arbitrary - have you ever looked past your own horizons? It's the reason why Any% for Pokémon Yellow is a minute long, and why OoT's Any% is less than 10 minutes long.

I personally can't speak for the other points, however I would like to talk about the category split.

The idea that since it's available to everyone means that the non-DLC category should be obsolete shows a total disregard to the content of the runs themselves. The DLC included run is a heavy mathematics-based run that relies mostly on good menuing, good mental monitoring of how much health the monster has, and very careful prep. The non-DLC run has a much heavier focus on player skill as opposed to using the items from the DLC packs to nuke the daylights out of helpless AI for 3 hours straight.

This isn't to say one run is needs more emphasis than the other, this is to say they're different - and that people can have fun in one, and no fun in another. If there continues to be no split, people like myself would be forced to share a leaderboard with people that essentially are playing a totally different game, and that would drive people away (including myself). It's in the same vein that people enjoy both the 1 star and 70 star categories of SM64, or glitched and glitchless runs of Pokemon games.

Please don't tell us that "limitations are arbitrary" when you're enforcing them. If you really take offence to people saying that the majority of mods don't have knowledge of the game, then you're not helping yourself by doing this.

And if you're done with sr.c as a whole, then why are you still in a position of power instead of handing it over to people who care?

2 examples of any% no DLC speedruns from 2 runners of varying skill levels. If you'd watch the WR for the no DLC category you'd see that the runs are very different and rely more heavily on weapon usage rather than just sleep bow and bombs.

 1. If you want people to run low rank quests that's fine but the thing is they are NOT competitive. There's gonna be people who do actual TA runs of the game who are gonna sweep the leaderboards for the fun of it which will more than likely discourage new runners more than not having the option to only run G rank quests. If your main issue is having a high entry barrier then the people who have been speedrunning this game on an individual level basis for 10+ years like myself are gonna set that barrier way higher than it would be set if only G rank quests and arena quests were listed.

 2. If the moderation team cared or even actively participated in the community I would have at least heard one of your names in the past besides Rosianna, I've been a part of many MH communities (Good and bad because yes I agree with you there, most communities on the MH side tend to be terrible) but also good friends with members of all skill levels in the speedrunning community on and off of twitch. Maybe saying that none of you care is rude and a stretch, but I can at least say that this board was left to die with no attempt to keep it lively and looking nice which at the very least speaks to the lack of caring about the speedrun.com aspect of it which can look better, it will just require a LOT of work which other people are willing to do for you.

4.The current record on these boards for a LR IL (5 Star a Sandy Battle Royale ) uses Timer Manipulation which I am assuming to be banned as my run that's nearly a minute faster hasn't been approved, I have shown extensively how the technique works and how it can be usued by any skill level and I've also done significant testing on my own to prove that even with a god tier set that time is not possible to achive while letting the timer tick down normally. Yet it hasn't been removed because nobody cares enough to contact the runner who would likely admit to using the technique (I've had contact with them before and they've even played MH with me on my twitch stream, they wouldn't lie about this, video of me hunting with them ) there's around 40-50 top level TA runners from all around the world consistently in contact with Jeck about his spreadsheet, he does that ALL solo and has to submit everything on his own which leads to a lot of stress as he is the sole person to upkeep those things. We've agreed that Speedrun.com has the potential to solve these issues in a way a google spreadsheet can not, by allowing people to post their own times and curate them and review them by multiple people instead of just clicking yes on things as soon as they're uploaded. For a google spreadsheet people go out of their way to manually scrub every single entry there to make sure the specific ruleset that all serious TA runners use is followed.

Final note, MH speedrunning has been around for significantly longer than most forms of speedrunning. Yes! People do speedruns that don't adhere to TA ruleset which is perfectly fine, but most people who want to get serious about the game will likely adopt the solo TA approach for IL runs, which these rulesets can be difficult to get a hold of and understand for a western player, and play however they want for full game RTA strategies. On the subject of parts of speedruns not having restrictions this is entirely untrue, it's common practice for things like no DLC, Glitchless, and even in extreme cases pauseless rulesets for some games (IE Super Monkey Ball, which I am a former IL runner of) Would you say that pause buffering should be allowed in IL runs of a game like Super Monkey Ball because it's something everyone can do? Either way, though there is a severe lack of interest on this particular board but that doesn't mean there's a lack of interest in MH speedrunning. There are quite literally thousands of players that are 10000x better at this game than all of us here who see these boards in the state they're in and laugh. I personally love speedrun.com, and I hate being bullied over liking what is considered a joke to the MH community just because it's not the way it should be. I guarantee you given time and significant effort this board can actually be respectable, but it won't get that way in its current state. I get that you don't wanna put in the effort to overhaul something that in your mind doesn't need change, but there are other people literally willing to do it for you.

If this isn't enough to prove that the community isn't dead. In the past month the MHXX/GU speedrun archive has had on average 14-15 viewers consistently 24 hours a day, only getting around 5 at it's minimum times. This is all runners reviewing videos, sets and strategies set forth by other hunters in an attempt to do TA runs on their own in an attempt to meet a personal goal or to push for a new world record. Limiting speedruns to G rank only clearly isn't scaring people away, and if it is then it's not scaring away enough people because these scary and restricitve rulesets that have been around for over 10 years still manages to draw in more people than speedun.com which has an insane amount of brand awareness compared to a google spreadsheet that you literally can't even find on google within the first few pages if you try to search for it.
