Is there anything in speedrunning that gets on your nerves?

My capture card just randomly deciding to stop recording or corrupt the footage halfway through a run. Yes, even my capture card has RNG lol

Both. The way the character's minds work scares me. As well as a fan girl scream. SeemsGood Huge fan.

And now we have two Stephs. Wait, which character's mind are you referring to? Because I actually love how their minds think. First of all, they are willing to admit that they have faults and are okay with it. Second, Sora's approach is never to win the game, but to beat the other player; to realize what the other player is doing and find a strategy that uses it to win. Why do you find that scary?

Knock back in any game. Especially Gremlins 2 on the NES...

Found something else that gets on my nerves:

  • Games that got created by series mods, but they never bothered putting any sort of rules or discord/external community website link in the description.
  • The thought of what is going to happen to Gamecube/Wii runs, once disc rot has destroyed all game discs. Or what if all hardware eventually just breaks? Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Game crashes, especially if it's a game that doesn't autosaves, and RNG.

  1. RNG, and how it feels like when I watch WR runs they get good RNG EVERY time it comes into play, and I can't make it through the first 5mins and I've already gotten the worst RNG you can get in every instance lol. Seriously, it gets old. I feel like I have cursed game copies haha.

  2. Some of the categories (or lack thereof). I feel like some games could use more categories (or perhaps removing one to add one, stuff like that) and no one else feels the same lol. That always sucks.

  3. The elitist thing, as the OP mentions. I especially don't like when runners act all elitist and the sole reason their run was good and not ass-bad was bc they were blessed by the RNG Gods. Lol

Episode 3 of Mitsunee being annoyed at stuff:

  1. If I get hosts from awesome people I admire, I continue to not hit the Mudkip frame for like an hour, essentially boring their viewers (who I'm guessing are the cool people I sometimes talk to in their chat)
  2. All these Marathons. Seriously. I may have trust issues, but there are quite a few that just look cheap and unprofessional to the point where I'd rather just donate by myself. Or I'll save the money for the upcoming LevelWithACause I guess.
  3. Every community with a few people in it seems to have at least 3 people who hate me for no reason and find the most absurd way possible to show it and then proceed to bully me over it.

Allied AI randomly and arbitrarily deciding that they will hang around for a full minute and a half and do nothing, instead of moving a few meters to the left to complete the objective...

When you mess up in a glitch that saves time and lose a lot of time!

I mainly watch speedruns so... Subscription/donation notifications, facecam (useless unless doing special condition runs) and timer obstructing the screen and commentary irrelevant to the game. Double bad when you upload a video in somewhere without chat. Then it's like trying to watch speedruns while one-way telephone conversation going on.

Sorry, I'm more of a pure gameplay footage person.

Lol, now I feel silly putting so much stuff on my feed thinking people would like it.

As a side note, a lot of games people play (especially old stuff) the native resolution of the game doesn't really "full screen" on my output resolution. How do you generally feel about unobstructed game play with materials on the side (in what would other wise just blank space)?

Getting hit by the ghosts in midjump at the Avifors Challenge on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (GC). That and some of the cutscenes.

RNG when it's being silly, but it has its good bits too.

When the game does something that has never happened such as AI screwing you over when they never did at that point in a level. And probably crashes, pretty much it.
