Emulator Submissions?

Personnal view, I see the Dolphin Emulator as pretty bad for the game. Well, not unplayable, but we are never at 100% speed. It's just way too slow

I'm not a mod, but Dolphin, while a fantastic emulator and amazing practice with an adapter, doesn't accurately simulate loads and shouldn't be used for an official run. On top of that, you'd bring in hardware differences which is already incredibly difficult to handle but on emulators which are meant only to run a game and not necessarily be super accurate, it's almost impossible to quantify the differences to a level where it should be comfortable on a leaderboard like this.

That said, it's amazing practice and worst comes to worst, once you're practiced, point a webcam at your TV, as long as you can see what's going on, it should be verifiable for a leaderboard.

On top of this, the lag for any% is really bad because of having to run a GBA emulator linked to Dolphin, mainly because of the map page on the gba. You can get rid of a lot of the lag by not having the map up, but that adds time to the run, and then you can't see your stats in real time.

On top of EVEN THAT, switching from multiplayer to singleplayer with the GBA emulator + resetting the "console" isn't perfect either, there's some other issues.

This only applies to any% with IGG, but it's still notable. Emu runs would be significantly slower, currently.

I've only used Dolphin like twice or so, but from my experience with FFCC it was actually much faster than playing on console. So I'm a little lost on the whole "Emu runs would be significantly slower currently".

Granted that was a few years ago and without running an additional GBA emulator or anything else to emulate IGG. So my info on actual any% in that regard is limited, but unless it has become a whole lot more accurate over the past years, I'd say emulator runs should still not be allowed at all, for neither of the categories to maintain consistency.

Emulator would not be slower. It wouldn't properly simulate either lag or loads, my guess is that it'd be significantly faster, especially depending on PC hardware. When I used it for RPGLB practice... 3 years ago, I remember running at a smooth 60FPS, which I'm not sure the game ever holds, especially in miasma streams. That said, it's by far the best way to practice the game. My consistency at the hardest patterns for Meteor Parasite 3 went from impossible to what I used within 3 hours of emu practice, since I no longer had to do 4 minutes every time I wanted to get to the fight and many more to get to the fight should I accidentally kill the boss. And of course, if you wanted to do a run on emulator for practice or it's the only way to do the run, there's nothing stopping you from doing it, it just shouldn't be on the leaderboard.

IMO, any GCN games that allow emulator are probably just wrong unless they know a lot more about the game or have an accurate IGT but those communities are much more equipped to know that than I am so I can't fully criticize it.

And thanks. <3

It's only slower for any% IGG because of switching between single and multiplayer, as well as the map screen adding a weird stutter effect which basically halves your movement speed. You're able to fix this by never having the map open, which loses time. Other than that, the game runs pretty smoothly, only lag I noticed was the waterfall in River Belle Pass' boss room.

I tested this 2 years ago though, before I got my new GPU, so I don't know if the lag would be different for me now, but it was really slow connecting the GBA emu to Dolphin.

I can't speak for any% no IGG.
