Should the rules of the game should be back to where they were before the August 2018 update?!

I know it's stupid, but these new rules were actually unfair. The video rules require us to have all times with video proof, but some users don't have anything to record with. Here's a picture for it.

I was browsing around the leaderboards for some games, and I found these rules a few months ago. The question is: should it go back to it was before, or all videos should have video proof if you have a specific time or a World Record? Same applies for the category extensions (except for the Snowball minigame), but only World Records are required.

IMO All run should have a video proof, no matter what time it is. It should be the first rule for all games on this site.

YOU DONT NEED TO SUBMIT TO THE LEADERBOARD TO RUN THE GAME!!!!! Same thing with categories - if the category doesn’t exist you can still run it. Here doesn’t have to be a leaderboard to run the game. I 100% agree with video proof being required (despite the fact that my run doesn’t have proof) because of the fact that it’s so easy to cheat nowadays. While this does mean some people can’t submit to the LB it doesn’t mean that they can’t run the game. If you want to compete on the boards, ask around on the discord (linked in the sidebar), there are a ton of people who run with webcam, phones, cap cards, etc. that can help you figure SOMETHING out.

I feel like this went in like 3 different directions but my overall point is that you don’t need to submit your run to run the game. Also, arguing and begging for the rules to go back or like allow something (I.e. people requesting emu on games that don’t allow it cough cough nsmbw) won’t change anything unless you’re fighting for more restrictions on video proof or something.

DCA made a fair point— yes, you can still run the game. It’s just that the rules don’t allow no-vid submissions, simple as that. And no, we don’t really have plans on reverting it back to pre-August 2018 rules, as we’ve decided as a community to not have no-vid runs submitted onto any% and IL leaderboards anymore. I’m sorry if you missed the discussion and didn’t get to voice your opinion(assuming that you’re planning on running this game in the near future)

And let me add another point — to quote Walrus: “In my opinion, speedrunning is not a basic human right that should be granted to everyone. If you can't afford the game, or your parents don't allow you to own a gaming system, then sorry but you might not be able to speedrun. It sucks, but speedrunning is not a right; it's a hobby that includes a small entry fee.” This may sound harsh at first, I know. But it also has to do with how serious you want to take this game. I myself have almost given up on running the game at one point because I couldn’t afford a capture card, but then I’ve come up with a webcam setup that happened to work almost perfectly with little to no strain on my hands. As long as you have the verifiable means to record your runs, then we’ll happily accept it. For now, any% and ILs all require video proof, and there’s really no way around it.

Just why src continue to allow peoples to submit times w/o video.

The speedrun is more competitive than few years ago so any run on the site should have a proof.

And DCA said a good point. You can speedrun all games you want without submitting on the leaderboard because you don’t have video. Just stop trying to want to change rules just for your case. Do you believe mods will change the rules like that ? All the community decided to require a video for Any% and ILs and it’s better like that. If you’re not happy of that, just leave and stop whining.

And now there are a lot of cheap options to record your runs. Phones, Tablets, Webcams exists. You don’t need the holy cap card to record runs.

Sorry to be a bit « Agressive » but I’m just sick to see peoples complaining for nothing or wanting to change rules just for their case.
