Powerless (Category Extension Idea)

Hello all! I've been playing SMG casually for years now (grew up playing it a fair amount), and I've recently enjoyed the additional challenge of playing through the game without any power-ups - those being consumable items that directly alter Mario's abilities (e.g. Fire Flowers, Bee Mushrooms, Spring Mushrooms, etc. but not shells, the manta, or things external to Mario).

Before anyone asks, I know formal requests for a category extension have a page here. Unfortunately, that would require me to have collected Powerless runs from at least 3 separate runners (myself included), and as I'm sure everyone is aware, I'm not a huge part of the SMG community.

The run is basically similar to Any% with the following restrictions:

  1. Mario must never collect/consume/use any of the following items:
  • Bee Mushroom
  • Boo Mushroom
  • Spring Mushroom
  • Fire Flower
  • Ice Flower
  • Red Star
  • Rainbow Star
  1. Luigi is off-limits, as using Luigi alters the player's innate abilities

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to help me by attempting runs and posting them on this thread, or if people think this category would be completely uninteresting.

Thanks!

2 things: 1: Yes! This sounds cool. I would be willing to run this if I could learn the route. My run wouldn't be very good, but I could make it happen. 2: There could be sub-categories for Mario and Luigi, like there are for most CEs.

It'd be pretty cool, but I think you'd need a list of the stuff that's REQUIRED (as I believe there are some parts where you need powerups) kinda like how SMO handles captureless, which can then be split into more categories if more things are found.

@Sizzyl Bowser's Galaxy reactor doesn't have any powerups (if memory serves), and I was able to collect more than enough power stars to get there without using any of the listed powerups. There are no required powerups for a run of Super Mario Galaxy, strictly speaking. I'd be happy to answer any questions about how I obtained (or skipped) certain stars, though.
