So why you always skip train part in the beginning?

it fair to skip 5 minutes and call it "world record" speedrun?

watch every "world record" speeedrun its without train part.

It's basically just a cutscene at the beginning of the game where there is no way to be faster or move through it with any speed tech. Because everyone would be completing it in the same amount of time with absolutely no differences, and it just adds time without adding anything interesting, there is no real reason to do that cutscene, so it is cut out of the run. Since everyone who runs the game agrees that it should be cut out of the run, everyone is on an even playing field, and no one is at any disadvantage. It sounds like you are trying to imply that pretty much every run is illegitimate because they don't watch that opening cutscene; if so, this is misguided. The community as a whole agreed upon the rules and premises on which half-life runs are based, and every run follows those rules. If you think that all runs should be required to sit through that cutscene, that's on you, but I think you'll find that people would not be very open to that suggestion. Hope that helped.

Is it fair? Yes. Is it 100% "right"? Probably not. Either way, it's way too late to change such a rule given the 151 players that have submitted and the 4 years that have passed since this leaderboard was created.

What Captain-No-Beard is saying about there being no way to be faster is not 100% true btw; check out this video by quadrazid:

None of that was actually faster, though; if you notice, quadrazid was keeping pace with the train the whole time. It was fun to watch, but-- and I could be wrong here-- not faster than sitting in the train, which is part of why this train section is skipped.

In the video description he says "57s faster than ordinary tramming". That's quite a bit faster than just sitting there

Did not see that; fair. Thanks.
