Can we have 100 Mario Challenge with Easy Normal and Expert?

Finland

Should I mark these categories as main or misc? I assume main, right?

Yesterday I did a race on SRL that did all 10 Mario Challenge courses from Coursebot. I think this would be less hustle to run as you wouldn't need to do the tutorial. What does everyone else think?

I agree with milk. This game doesn't need to be like shitoon and start from a new user. Just have them all completed and do it from coursebot. This will also allow categories like all sample courses, all maker set courses (the first 8), and all nwc courses.

I agree with milk too

All Amiibo characters? Well crap, guess I need to buy ALL of the amiibos to run 100% Kappa b. The weird mushroom would be 7 10 Mario Challenges then the NWC, which is really hard. Unlocking all the amiibo costumes would take forever though. Also, I'd say true 100% would include getting enough stars to publish the max number of courses, but that would be kind of stupid for a speedrun.

I'll add 100 Mario Challenge Easy, Normal and Expert as main categories since no one seemed to be against it. Level skips should be allowed, right?

I considered beating all 10 Mario Challenge courses Any% for this game so that's why I thought starting it from the start and including tutorial would be the right thing. Beating the sample courses on the course selection would be pretty weird since you could just choose what order to do the courses in and it could get confusing etc, while starting the game from the start makes you do them in a certain order and has sort of an ending too. I'll do whatever you guys think is the best though because my opinion is always wrong. :)

More category suggestions?

Another question would be when does the timing for 100 Mario Challenge categories end? I'll just put when the axe on the last level falls down (since last level is always a castle level) for now. I'd suggest either keeping that, changing it to stopping the timer when the "Course Clear" screen appears or stopping the timer when you press next on the course clear screen since that's kind of the last input on the run.

Timing based on hiittng the axe makes sense to me since it feels like that's the end.

Also I vote for no level skips.

How about a category of beating all four NWC courses? I think that would be cool. Also, what about just any random 10 Mario Challenge, not just all of them? (and yeah, level skips should be allowed)

The reason level skips shouldn't be allowed is because the game is just going to turn into skipping over and over until you find a level where you see the flag pole near the start.

Finland

However, if you do that, you may actually be losing more time than trying to beat the levels.

Why I think level skips should be allowed is because it is possible to get levels that are near impossible to beat for anyone else than the creator (in Expert mode). Take your epuzzler levels for an example, I had no idea how to beat most of them until I saw your solution videos on Youtube.

Also, as far as I know, the levels are chosen for each difficulty based on the clear percentage, correct? There are situations where someone releases a level and tells his friends how to beat it before giving them the code. That makes the person's friends beat the level in less attempts than a normal person would blindly do, thus increasing the clear percentage and making the level appear in mild difficulties.

About the NWC category, what should the category name be and should it be misc or main category?

If we allow skipping then skipping is going to be the optimal strategy. You might waste 20 seconds skipping 10 times per level, but the difference between a 20 second level and a 3+ minute level make it worth it. People aren't just going to use it for levels that are unfair, they will use it for any level that looks like it will take more than 30 seconds to beat (autoscrollers, difficult jumps, doors, pipes, no lakitu, etc).

Skipping is in the game, it should be allowed. It's RNG based anyway, people might reset whenever they see levels that look like it'll take more than 30 seconds to beat.

@Vallu I would call it "Nintendo World Championships 2015 Courses" and put it as a main category.

So I recently completed a Run of "100 Mario Challenge (All Difficulties w/ No Skips)" Where I basically ran all the Difficulties back to back using no skips. I was told to present this category idea on this forum to see how people felt about this, if this should be a legit category.
