I held the Any% record for Paint the Town Red (default category) for a little over a year, since been beaten through new strategies but it epitomised the end of a long grind for an eventual record.
I was also the first person to pull of a complicated OOB glitch that's a fundamental part of any% in a different game now, I won't go into it too much but I encourage all glitch hunters to keep pushing, there's an almost endless series of logic breaks to follow.
7 months of grinding and my first regional record after 3 years of playing. If I didnt start my break on lap 3 a smidge too early this could have been a low 32 time, which would nearly be in the worldwide top 10.
The video was also record by McRaren who held the WR on this track in 2009 and then again in 2020 so thats cool
Beating Buffy The Vampire Slayer on Original Xbox in under 2 hours! I was even able to get a sub 1:50:00 afterwards which was an even greater achievement!
First, my All Items run in Untitled Goose Game. It is the longest run I have ever done. A few weeks before I did it I thought it was way too Intimidating but when I finally did it it was actually very fun.
Second, my Any% world record in The Endless Express. When I started running the game there was only one runner, the WR was just under 10 minutes. By talking to one of the developers of the game I found out you can manipulate the cycles in the game by changing your computer's clock before and during the run. Using this method and some calculations I brought the WR down by almost 3½ minutes.
Honestly, the week long grind I did for RF1 to break the 50 second barrier was pretty great, even if I only held the WR for a short period of time.
Despite it being a massive personal meme, breaking an 11 year old WR was awesome as well.
I even briefly brought life back to Kirby: The Unofficial Fangame.
But honestly, at the end of the day, my favorite thing I've ever done was just joining in on small communities. Sure it's not much of an achievement, but I've met a lot of great and cool people through doing it.
I have answered the question.
Much like a lot of other people, the handful of WRs I have are pretty cool to me. What I should probably be most proud of is the WR I worked hardest against other runners for - but to be honest, the ones I think of fondly are the categories that I was the first to complete. The fact that I was the person to kick things off, giving a starting point/a place to aim for with anyone interested in trying it, makes me pretty happy.
I guess Petz Dogz 2 100% would be the crown of this. I'm still the only one who's done it, and to be fair, 8 hours mostly consisting of RNG fishing probably doesn't sound too appealing. That said, it's still something I did, and I left behind a (hopefully) useful guide as well ^^
There's 3 things that I'd call my proudest achievements in speedrunning, so I'll list them here.
-
Being the first to hit 1,000 games played on speedrun.com. In the span of a month and a half I nearly doubled my games played number to hit number 1. It's easily the most I've ever grinded for something and I'm super proud I was ever able to do this.
-
Getting a time of 1:28 in Frog Bath Any%. This is the most I've ever grinded for one specific game in speedrunning so I had to put it here. This game is one of three that I've ever seriously grinded for and it's only one that I actually got WR for (tbf it is a very small community but my WR is a lot better than the 2nd place time). I also won $50 because of a bounty placed on getting sub 1:30 so that was cool.

Doing a run of PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond. This one is much more personal to me as this was my favorite game growing up. Ever since I started speedrunning I've always wanted to do a run of this game but I never fully had the motivation as I knew it would take over 3 hours. However for my 1,000th run I decided to just go ahead and do it. While the time itself isn't anything of note (my run is second to last place), the fact I did it at all is special to me.
I came here because I knew I would see Komrade saying "Quitting" again, like he did in the last thread like this. I'm not good at picking my proudest achievement because there's a lot of things that went good. I'll pick something later when I've actually gotten back into speedrunning. I'm on hiatus rn because I'm living a 24/7 busy life.
@zoey_91 so is your randomly generated picture
For me, it was probably holding every WR in the flash version of Duck Life 1 simultaneously at the start of this year. It's a game I played a lot as a kid and this in particular was something I'd been working to do for a couple of years until I brought it all together with a strong grind in December 2020. I don't hold them all anymore, but I'm still proud of every PB I have in that game.
Funnily enough probably learning some speedrun strats to do in casual playthroughs of games like Halo 1-3, SM64 and Banjo-Kazooie is up there; it was so satisfying to hit a BLJ or a Sword Fly for the first time.
Having WR in Road Rash 64 100% is something to be proud of, too. I'd thought about it for a fair while since I've sunk a tonne of hours into that game over an order of decades, and finally got a capture card this year to record playthroughs.
I switch a lot from game to game, I love to explore new games and learn them. But when I came across Refunct, I kept running it for a while. So that PB is one of my proudest achievements, not because it is extremely good or anything. But it was a game that kept my motivation going. Looking back at it, I am proud I pushed my PB lower and lower. I wish I can find another game with the same experience.
And doing the first Lost in Blue: Shipwrecked speedrun. The run sure is literally a shipwreck but I am proud of doing the first run for an empty leaderboard.
Refunct was the game that got me into speedrunning. One of my classmates got it after seeing some summoning salt vids and then us two and a third friend ended up competing against each other for a few months. Highly recommend it.
