Definition of 100%

I'm actually starting to lean towards including everything. 100% should be as long as possible. Like Thousand Year Door, Super Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, etc. Could it also include 255 fuel cells? The argument with "You can just buy them all at the shop" is invalid because it's quicker to get the 75 through out the process of beating the game rather than the tedious and slow process of buying the extra 75.

My whole mindset is that if it was unique it should be counted so I'd agree with whatever you think should be included, but makes the rules as clear as possible once you think it over (as in definition of what is required + other requirements (like depositing stones etc. if necessary)

Colorado, USA

SFA 100% Requirements Finish the game with the items listed below: All Spellstones obtained and deposited All Krazoa Spirits obtained and deposited. All 8 Cheat Tokens obtained and deposited All Maps purchased All Magic Upgrades obtained All Shop upgrades purchased All 75 overworld fuel cells obtained All 35 Bafomdads obtained All Scarab Bags obtained All Key Items obtained/deposited

I don't think having max inventor items is a good idea. What other game requires 100% to include max currency or whatever? That should be the division within Max%.

Pennsylvania, USA

Max inventory count (such as having maxed out bomb count, mushroom count, etc.) absolutely is irrelevant. I think this covers everything, but just to ask, would anyone have a problem calling this category "100%" even though this game has a counter that doesn't indicate item completion rate? I mean as long as the rules specify what is 100% i don't think there's an issue.

I really dislike when people start calling stuff something else besides 100%. The "All Medals Expert Mode" discussion for SF64 bugged me af.

Make it clear that the in game counter isn't used and call it 100%. About the definition, I don't know what half of those things are so I'll leave that to you.

EDIT: Also, it is better to have "too much" to begin with rather than exclude stuff that will be brought back later. If something disappears from the definition a year from now due to it being stupid no runs up until that point will be invalid. If we start counting new shit into the definition, all runs up until that point will be invalid. It isn't a stupid idea to just get a definition, run the category, and then discuss it more as we do.

Ya, it needs to be called 100%. The 99% could mean any% glitchless as well. It has no relevance to 100%. I think I've included basically everything that wouldn't be considered a max% incentive. The Key item thing is kinda a grey area for me. There should still be a few skips in the run such as the DIM gate unloading and REK Early. It seems pointless since we get rid of most key items anyway. I don't think Baby CR skip is viable since we need them for bafomdads (I think).

Okay, so the key items should be included. It would make the game feel more "100%". Also, I believe 34 is the max bafomdads we can obtain. That's because two of them are flagged as the same bafomdad, so we can only get one or the other. But ya, same rules as above apply. Is everyone okay with this? Can 100% finally become a thing?

I'm not a regular runner but I do like these rules. However does the bofamdad bag only give you 10? Doesn't that mean the player would have to die 24 times lol? I mean I get it as 100% it's just sort of odd to require I suppose. This will be a long run category.

If everyone else seems content with the Bofamdad thing I have no personal objections otherwise.

Colorado, USA

It's actually not as bad as you would think. There are plenty of points where we can conveniently die. It really shouldn't have any form of "grinding" deaths. Just managing them. I'm gonna go ahead and make the damn category. Most people seem to be leaning towards this as an okay definition. We'll see how it goes from there.

@StarFalco64 Please reach out to me on Twitch or Discord. I have some questions/concerns about some of your submitted speedruns for Star Wars games. Not sure how else to contact you.

Sounds good, SFA 100% let's goooo!

Bringing back the infamous hundo debate. In terms of content in the run, it all makes sense. Everything except for cheat tokens are on the pause screen. Since most of hundo is defined by this, the collectibles should actually show up on the pause screen. Sequence breaks like REKE and BCRS will disrupt the counter and causes krazoa spirits to not show up on the pause screen even if they are obtained. This can allow for Walled City routing with the tree switches, another glitch that can be shown off besides staff swapping in MMP. It also gets rid of the arbitrary rule of having to deposit spirits/stones (so I've been told it's arbitrary) Hundo has potential atm and it's almost there.

Hmm tha'ts good to know. Do you think the current rules need updated to reflect this?

Colorado, USA

There would be no valid runs if so. Really, all it's doing is adding walled city and Cloudrunner Fortress in it's entirety to keep the counter from stopping. Oddly, snowhorn gate skip doesn't disrupt it, so that's still viable. Moon and Sun Early, I'm not sure (needs to be looked into). But yeah, if everyone else is fine with it, it can be changed.
