Question about ILs

Hi everyone, I'm new in these forums, although I've been following it for some time now.

I started playing this game many years ago, and since the very beginning, I was highly interested in speedrunning it. However, due to several circunstances, I've been very on and off in it. I might post my times when I consider them all good enough.

However, I have a question regarding the submission rules. I come from a gaming Elite where only the in-game time of the missions matters in their games, and here, apparently, the real time is what matters for the ILs. Whether that makes sense to me or not is completely irrelevant, but I have a question:

When I record my ILs, my videos start with the beginning cinema. I don't record the loading screen for several reasons, first because they are long and boring, second because I play for the in-game times (hence the loading is irrelevant), and third because when I fail or abort a mission, I hit restart (when you hit restart you get a ~4-seconds loading screen, instead of going back to the menu, selecting again the difficulty, the mission, and watching that super long loading screen, lol... I play some levels hundreds and hundreds of times maybe seeking good execution, I can't do it the long way!).

My question is if it is acceptable here to post a video without the loading screen and write a comment with a link to a separate video where I show that it lasts for whatever amount of seconds, and simply time both things together for the real time. For example in Laboratory Rescue it's consistently 23 seconds of loading (huge!), it seems, for me, I haven't checked the other levels.

Thanks in advance, DD.

Let me know if you didn't understand my question, I can try to re-word it. English is not my first language.

tbh I've always thought that ILs should be ranked by IGT and full-games by RTA (like The Elite) but it's never really been a problem. If somebody beat one of the IGTs but was knocked down a place by loading times I would have brought it up. 23 seconds is insane!

When I said a gaming Elite I precissely meant The-Elite (Perfect Dark and GoldenEye 007). Cool that you know them. I also think that the ILs should be ranked by IGT, but that's not my decission.

The problem though is that with the current rules the loading screen counts as real time as well, and I don't record it in my videos! There are personal records that I can easily repeat or beat, but some others were hell and took me hours of grinding. I need to know if it would be acceptable to post the ILs without the loading screen and simply add that extra time for the real time thing, it would be a pity if it weren't.

And yes, lol, 23 seconds is insane. In the videos here it's like double as fast! That has to be something about the updates of the game. As far as I know my game has never been updated.

The version I'm using is the Rare Replay one, I don't notice any differences really (I do have an original 360 copy too). Having said that, it did get an update a month or 2 ago (for what I can't imagine), so maybe that does have something to do with it.

I play an original PDZ on the Xbox 360. I think it has never been updated, since I don't even know how to use Xbox Live. I don't know much about technology.

I had set it to where RTA was used because at the time I didn't know IGT was after a mission was done. That's why I added it after looking up some runs and some people showing it after a run. I did a couple runs where it shows it, but I honestly get annoyed doing runs. So that's why I haven't been bothered to run any ILs again to improve and properly show IGT.

If you install to the harddrive it's actually faster and averages less than 20 seconds somewhere at like 15 seconds I think. Xbox One has faster load times which is why it's a sub category. For ILs it's not because we go by IGT not RTA.

For RTA it should start when you press A for the mission and have the loading screen.

Also welcome :)

Maybe I should switch to 360 for full-game, didn't realise I was cheating haha

It's not cheating it's just faster, and that's the same for Perfect Dark XBLA and other games. It's superior hardware.

Hi, thank you :) .

I still have the question, I'm afraid, sorry. I've just made a video to explain better. Take this video for example: It's just a completion of River - Extraction on Agent in 4:29 (not record, this is just a test video). The video begins in the beginning cinema, it doesn't show the loading screen. After the video I prove that the IGT is 4:29. If I were to submit this run, what should I do? What should I put in the section "Time"? The "Real Time" of that run, according to the video, is 4:31 + the loading time, but the loading time is not shown in my video. Is it okay to time the loading screen myself and just add it to the total time? Or simply the run wouldn't be accepted? Or what? Because like I explained before, I don't choose the missions from the main menu usually, I just hit restart over and over since it's much much much faster, then I basically never have the big loading screen (I don't expect a record in the very first run of the day, for sure).

The problem I have is that ALL of my records are recorded like that! Literally all. Basically I don't know if this run would be accepted, as it doesn't fulfil the rule.

I need to know what I should do in this situation, because I want to know if my times would be accepted here or not!

Sorry for my bad English, it's hard to explain myself in this language.

Runs should have the loading screen and starting mission. Just so in case there is a tie RTA can see which one is faster. Submitting them as IGT would work, just for future reference watching mine or Dave's is a good idea of how they should look. Also showing the IGT for a few seconds like 5.

It's a tricky situation considering full game and ILs use different timing methods. Basically I'm forced to pick one of them and since full game is the main category I went with real time. I wish ILs didn't need to have real time, but if you don't put real times then it won't show up. I know it's stupid, but that's just the way the site works.
