Hello,

Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite game of all time and I was looking into speedrunning it casually on my free time. However, when I found this page I was disappointed that I would need to spend at least 2.5 hours at a time in order to run this game. This has prompted me to come up with the three following category suggestions that would be accessible to people with less time:

All Powerups: The object of this category would be to collect every powerup in the game. This category would need some interesting routing and would be a bit shorter than any%. Time would end the frame the last powerup is collected.

Any% NG+: This would be a short, simple category where you would just beat the last level normally from a completed file.

20 Stars: This is an idea I got from the Sunshine leaderboard where you get 20 Stars as fast as possible. I think this would be a fun, short category to run for casual players. Time would stop when you touch the 20th star.

I hope you consider these ideas and maybe make a miscellaneous section of the leaderboard.

Also I know the IL leaderboard exists but I think more short categories can be provided.

All powerups wouldn't be shorter because of the flying powerup, wich forces you to basicly do an any% run + 1 star, also with NG+ do you just mean the final star or also collecting 60 stars Other categories I suggest: All stars, no purple coin stars, no hungry lumas (star bit routing would be rediciolous otherwise) All main stars (f.e. good egg 1, 2 and 3, also stars like buoy base 1 and matter splatter) All purple coin missions (on 100% account ofc)

@CreepyGar I was unsure about all powerups. I was wondering if you can get the red star right when you unlock the gate or do you have to beat the game first? If you need to beat the game first then the category could be all powerups except for the red star

Also by NG+ I mean only completing the last grand star from a completed file

I would definitely run the purple coin on a 100% file category that sounds fun.

Mods I am willing to do a run of any of these categories if you need me to do runs before a category is created

yea the NG+ category you imply is just bowser 3 IL

Yeah I guess you're right. I just decided to include it because I saw the category in other games.

Maybe there could also be an all bowser and bowser Jr levels category or an all daredevil comets category where you'd complete all the bowser and bowser Jr levels or all the daredevil missions from a completed file

These all sound like good ideas for a category extension page.

If you are interested in shorter galaxy runs I recommend you check out the Individual Level page! we can start adding All stars from galaxies aswell instead of just single stars.

I am aware of the IL leaderboard and I will be checking it out soon. I just wanted to give my input on what new categories i would like to see added.

I actually tried to make my own category in my youtube channel. Its called 120 stars SDA Combine times. Its basically almost like yoshifan’s SDA run with Luigi, but in my category its combining all my IL times into one SDA run with an individual character.

That's called segmented.

All secret stars maybe? Would include all secret and all Luigi stars, which are IIRC 18. Makes more sense than a flat 20 stars, still short enough (40 minutes? probably less)

@Alaeus do you mean all secret stars from a new or completed file?

ive never even ran this game full but i would say that NG+ sounds like a good idea
