I was wondering if anyone knows of any RPG games that are short to speedrun? I was thinking around the 1hr mark, 1hr 30 max. and not with glitches. Preferably for GB/GBC/GBA

Does legend of Zelda count? A few of the gameboy ones are around an hour

I suppose they sort of are but I'm talking more traditional JRPG style :)

Instead of that, why not speedrun a game that you really like, no matter how long it takes?

If you don't mind going PC, Helen's Mysterious Castle is 30-40 minutes depending on category and is currently $1.39 on Steam. Yes, this is the obligatory "plugging a game basically only I run" suggestion...

...with that out of the way, you want a GBA JRPG in the 60-90 minute range. First generation Pokemon games are a little longer than that at around 2 hours, but fits everything else you want.

Final Fantasy Adventure and Final Fantasy Legend (1, 2 and 3) also fit, though I'm not sure quite how well.

Boktai (which I've only heard of due to its solar sensor in the cartridge) apparently is about a 2 hour run.

So, the problem with JRPGs is that they are almost always long, and and even more almost always longer than an hour to an hour and a half.

However, I do have two games for you that can be beaten sub 1:30, although you probably won't start out beating them that fast. They're all GBA titles. Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword fits the bill entirely. Then there is Shining Soul and Shining Soul II. Shining Soul II can definitely be done sub 1:30 in many ways, and has been proven to be beaten (at least once) sub 1:00. The first one hasn't gotten as much love, and the world record is over 2 hours, but it isn't optimised very well and I bet it could be done sub 1:30.

I do speedrun games I really like, the main one being pokemon gold (haven't submitted a run yet) which is a long game which is why I was seeking for a shorter game and I just tend to like jrpg style like the final fantasys but they are always so long. I'll have a look at shining soul and boktai =) I've played fire emblem before, didn't really like it though. thanks for the recommendations!
