Haven't noticed this mentioned before after a quick look, but it'd be nice when in the Streams tab to be able to select multiple games, rather than having all of the other games disappear after selecting one

I have a really really really little nitpick. On Your Profile you can't add your Wiki Fandom Profile.

Fandom is an unnecessary social link.

More important: So, since we can't add the Japanese names of games anymore, since some were incapable of using the correct character set, would it be possible to get an additional request forum for the adding of Japanese names of games. I have a handful currently that are missing any sort of Japanese translation, so I'd imagine someone looking for Japanese version of the game could be problematic in the future.

Less important: Would there be a way to get a European title field as well? Obviously, not nearly as relevant, but one an the occasional examples, titles can be pretty different. I don't know if this would work at all because the language field in question seems to attached to actual languages table, and not locations table.

When discussing it with some others, there was also an issue for really specific examples of where a game might have a different name in one specific language (because of a specific translation not working out great). Not sure if this is at all a great or bad idea; but could the field be described as "alternative title" or something like that, where one could add the location-specific title, and then select from a range of possibilities, the location that is relevant (Japan, EU, Brazil, Korea, Germany) etc.?

Please update your rules for game submissions. I had a game rejected for not being notable despite notability not being a rule. If you're going to enforce arbitrary stuff like this that's based entirely just on moderator discretion at least put it somewhere on the rule sheet so people know. It's a waste of my time and yours if I go through following all the rules and steps to submit a game that meets all the criteria needed to get a leaderboard for it just to have it be rejected for a rule that isn't even made available to the public.

That or if it's mod abuse then reprimand that mod or something.

@Sasam I do not know what kind of game was submitted, but I am going to guess that it was a web game, for which the rule is stated.

"At this time, we are not adding the following: Visual novels, short/trivial flash games, non-video game activities." (emphasis mine)

I am not site staff, so I do not know anything further, but if you have questions I would suggest asking site staff. One easy way to do that is via the site's discord, for which you can find an invite link for under the "More" tab in the top bar.

@Sasam please talk about that on a relevant thread don't post it just cuz a mod posted basically I actually want the mods to post round the site and still have fun with it :) its nice to see I would recommend like habreno said go to the discord rather than bringing it up here.

@MelonSlice @Habreno It was not a web game, it was not a visual game. It fully met the rules. It was rejected for not being notable. I'm saying if you have a rule such as "can reject a game for not being notable." It should be public knowledge and be added to the rules list. It is relevant to this thread that I want the rules AKA The site updated to reflect how it's being ran.

You can see the rejection message here. I just want the rules to be properly reflected on the site. I'm not arguing it's rejection. And that's why I put it in the site feedback thread. Because my feedback for the site is to make sure the rules are clear and up to date.

@Liv See all I would want is a single line like "Runs may be rejected based on moderator's discretion despite meeting these requirements" Or something. Like just some sort of heads up that there even is subjective decision making behind whether a game is accepted or not. Because when that's not clear and you get a "You're game just isn't good enough" or "not popular enough" It just kind of feels like someone is fucking with you for the sake of it. And not like it's being properly moderated. I can't even see which mod did it to even ask like "Is it not notable because there's not enough runners? Can I resubmit if I can link like a bunch more?" Like you can't even get feedback for why it was rejected because it's subjective to a single mod and it's just vague. And if I did try to resubmit with links to multiple runners and that wasn't the reason like I assumed I could get banned.

And I'm certain more people are going to get upset and frustrated at this in the future which is why I just want people to at least know it might happen to them. It just feels shitty to wait a week to just get "not good enough" despite making sure it's up to the publicly requested standards that you've followed for like 3 years of using the site.

So yea that's my feedback on this. I just think there should at least be AT LEAST some vague line about your game being rejected based on mod discretion even if it meets the requested standards. Just one line, doesn't need to be a whole explanation or write up. Just something. Anything.

A good thing is a game will never be rejected or accepted on popularity just what the game looks like to the mods among other factors it could also be the run you uploaded if it was like not the full run or like death% etc I looked up the game and because it looks like a visual novel and has visual novel segments the mod might have skimmed and caught all of them so you could resubmit and put in the additional notes box about why the game is notable and it ain't a visual novel etc or go to discord and talk about it :) I do hope it gets sorted but if not sorry just how it is ^^

You can say it wont be rejected or accepted on popularity. But that's basically what saying it's not notable is. Notability = Popularity or worthy of popularity. The reason I was given for it's rejection is literally popularity related. And again, I don't care the run was rejected. I said before I accept that. What I don't like is HOW it was rejected based on a ruling that was never even publicly made available at the time of submission. I'm not trying to get the rules changed. I'm not trying to get the run accepted and trying to make a case for it. I'm trying to say that rules should be public. There should be disclaimers. Transparency to how game submissions work.

It also doesn't really have visual novel segments, it's a platformer with sections of dialogue. If it was rejected for being a visual novel it would say "we are not currently accepting visual novels" Or at least that's the response I've gotten before. I'm pretty sure in extra information I said it was a platformer as well. If you go the the game page I had linked on submission the game clearly says "hack and slash your way through" and show controls for slash attack, magic attack, jump and movement. Right away clearly. It's very clearly not a visual novel and was not rejected because "It looked sort of like one" Or if they did skim and miss all of that then they aren't doing their job right. Simple as that. Also you can get banned for submitting rejected games repeatedly so no I wouldn't just "resubmit with more information" unless it was clear it was because of X reason. I can't ask what X reason is though because the mod who's name I don't have gave a vague reason based on popularity and wasn't actually clear about it. And again I'm not trying to get it accepted at this point so I wouldn't do that anyways. I just want the site to be better and more clear about how it operates.

I understand yet I don't understand lol. It's still a request. I guess the best way to prevent those discussions is to add: "We have the right to reject any game requests even if it meets the described guidelines"

Exactly yea. That's all I want for the site.

Idk. I think it's implicit that a "request" can be denied.

Hi,

I believe it would be beneficial for people with the "verifier" role to be able to edit times before verifying them as people often have a late or early split at the start or end of their run and the time has to be corrected - this is frustrating for verifiers. Is there any possibility of this being allowed?

Hello. I think a nice feature for this site would be an "overall combined time" section for individual level leaderboards. It offers a fun challenge and a great incentive for people to do more IL runs of their favorite games. GoldenEye: 007 on N64 is the most notable game that does this on their website (the-elite.net), and I think it would be a great feature for some games here on speedrun.com like GoldenEye: 007 for Wii, which I'm a pretty active runner for. Even though many communities wouldn't care for such a feature, I think it would be a really nice option for the communities that do, such as GoldenEye and The World is Not Enough.

Something like this: https://i.gyazo.com/99182cb8fbd0eb218ee4823116086245.png (ignore the empty spaces on one difficulty. We haven't gotten around to those ones yet)

I personally think that the rules box following the game's theme is great. Thanks for the change!

I think it's great, too. But it looks bad for leaderboards with low opacity. The only thing that would need to be changed is the opacity of the rules panel itself.

It would be nice if you could zoom in on wr graphs. Sometimes there are a lot of wrs in a short time period and it makes it impossible to read the graph.
