Start of timing

Hi there. Because I started my timer by hand, my run got re-timed. For future runs, I want to make sure I start at the right time, and as a non-native English speaker I'm not really sure what exactly "Time starts the frame your character moves after starting the game" means.

There's a fade-in of the game (from a black screen) and a non-moving character up until some point. And I see two possible candidate frames for a timer start:

  1. The last "still" frame before the first movement (after this the "character moves" - but it hasn't moved yet) - then I would phrase the rule as "Time starts the frame before your character moves"
  2. The first frame after the first visible movement (on this frame we're sure the character has moved, but it's somehow already too late) - then I would phrase the rule as "Time starts the frame after your character has moved for the first time"

Which one fits to the definition? I know it's just about which frame to take from two subsequent frames, but it's not clear to me.

@TylerDoodler This is interesting. Much like you did, I mostly eyeballed it, as mine was hand-timed. I obviously tried to get as close as humanly possible when starting the timer, and went to lengths such as watching the video frame by frame in video editor, but I had no reference for frame timing rather than the floating timer I had on my recording, so pretty much the only thing that I would have got 100% accurate is the ending frame at 10k. The program you linked earlier is helpful, but does anyone know if there are any programs that are used by professional speedrunners for other games? Now that you've brought up these drastic inconsistencies, I think we should change the way we do things here. Last question, how did you decide, or how did it come up with 30fps for mine and 60fps for everyone else?
